Water Marbling with Metallics

I wanted to do a water marble of gold and turquoise for my friend's wedding (it ended up looking totally ridiculous for wedding purposes so the day of I switched to $OPI's I'm Wired--terrible formula, fyi).

Still I thought the result was kind of cool. I used a metallic gold polish from a random brand I've found in the NYC area. It behaved in unexpected ways, I think maybe because of the metallic's increased drying speed?

The marbling effect is interesting. How was this achieved?

RMC, beautyjunky, - standard water marbling :)

k2k, you nailed, justme, ria - Thanks ladies!

Ariana, znia - whatever you do, move fast!

polishsis - that's how i felt about it. It was not the look I had set out for (aiming for standard water marble swirls) but when all was said and done, it looked kinda cool :)

My first ever water marble experiment was with copper metallic, shear shimmery turquoise and higher pigmented orange shimmer. I did this over white base and it reminded me of coral reefs or something. I just love the way the metallic spiders through the other colours.

When I saw your nails my first thought was"Yay turquoise!" and then I thought how smashing the gold would be over a midnight blue base, maybe with some black in the marble as well! Lapis!

It kind of looks like a crackle polish. Love the cyan and gold together, it's a stunning look!

I like how this turned out. You should have worn this one.

It almost looks more abstract then marbled (if that makes sense) but I think it's gorgeous. Reminds me of some very pricey enameled jewelry I've seen.

Adrienne, JQ - Thanks!

Flavia - It kind of does!

Lucy - it looked quite insane and over the top for a wedding. day to day i don't mind crazy nails. but i didn't want to look back 10 years from now at obnoxious nails in one of my best friend's weddings.

Sandi - Jewelry seems to be the thought of the day!
