OPI Let Them Eat Rice Cake

OMG you guys, I'm in LOVE with this blog - Spaz & Squee. I always lusted after Cilucia's swatches on MUA's NB and it finally occurred to me to ask her if she had a blog. She does! And she's been doing it for almost a year now! She's a photography genius and has a trick to diffuse a camera's flash with a plastic bag.

Her swatches are flawless and she made me lemm the hell out of Let Them Eat Rice Cake (OPI Japan Collex).

I bought it and while it doesn't look quite as good on me as her, I'm still happy I have it.

(3 coats - photo taken with plastic bag diffuser. Not bad right?)

This color is not quite right on me. An uber-soft baby pink with a touch beige. But I still like it lots. It's actually very similar to Essie Pound Cake, which I showed you a few weeks ago. Pound Cake has a bit more brown in it though, which makes it work better with my coloring.

Formula was not good. It needs at least 3 coats to eliminate the streaks and it doesn't dry well at all.

G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!! And we are mani twins :) I'm also a huge cilucia fan! her pictures are always magical. BTW I got Pound Cake after you posted it and I love it! It probably looks better on you, but I still like it on me. <3

Piff, you are making me blush!!! Thanks for the shoutout, and I'm glad you got this polish! I stuck a pro-wide into it and like the application a bit better because of it. I still think it looks amazing on you!

Yes, I agree Cilucia's pictures are amazing. Now I have to figure out how to place a plastic bag over my shoot and point camera. Lol!

I think it looks gorgeous against your skintone. Too bad about the formula :)

K2K - Post your pics of both this and Pound Cake NOW.

Katie - You're not kidding. I did my nails two hours before bed last night, woke up with sheet marks everywhere. Thank god for the genius refresher coat that is David top coat. Really.

Cilucia - Your plastic bag pushed me over the edge to unfathomable love.

Diedre, Deborah - Thanks, dears!

Toyomi - What do you wear in the winter?

rmc - Ya that was a trick for me too. I don't have a dslr but it isn't quite a point and click either so I probably had a bit of an easier time that you might.

Ms. Aimee - No prob.

I love this color on you! And it's funny about the plastic bag over the flash because I do the same thing on my crappy little camera except I use a little square of tissue paper I taped over the flash with clear tape. It works so well!

I LOVE this on you! I have heard of the tissue paper diffuser, but not a plastic bag. Will have to try that.

I just fell in love...this polish is so pretty! I adore light pink shades, and this is pretty much perfect :D

Very pretty! :)

Jessi, Arrianne - Both such simple solutions which really improve a photo!

Elsa - There are other light pinks! This one doesn't dry!

Natalie - Thanks!

This is so pretty on you! A great neutral color.
So do you place the plastic bag fully over the flash? Like a sandwich bag? Sorry for the many questions, I just want to know how to get better pics :D

This looks really great on you and..even with the bad formula I want it!! lol :)

Piff said...

Miss Blue - It's a white plastic shopping bag. Like the kind you might get a grocery store. and I wrapped it around several times.

Dandy - Get Pound Cake instead by Essie!

I've only seen this once before. It was okay to me. Now I want this badly! Looks like such a yummy color. It does look wonderful on you. Will have to check out this blog. I don't go on MUA so I don't know who these people are. I enjoy good writing and photos of course.

This looks AMAZING on both you and cilucia. I HAD to get it, bad formula and all.

LOVE this color! I'm thinking of getting it myself.

Quick question, how do you get your nail polish so perfect at the nail beds? Do you use a corrector pen? I'm so jealous, your nails always look perfect!
