Lippmann's Glitter in the Air

(4 coats)

I thought this would be totally up my alley. Glitter in soft colors suspended in a milky-sheer base?? YUS.

But it's total meh. There are the usual problems that come with a polish that requires 4 coats (bubbles, drying etc) and there's really not much of a glitter pay-off. Why isn't this dense like most of Lippmann's other hex glitters? Would make it so much more awesome.

Hey Piffsicles,

I frankened one; there's some part of me that feels gypped if I have to pay over $15 for a polish that requires more than 3 coats to look awesome.

I'm all about glitter and sheers and candy and erm, I didn't like even my franken all that much. Glad to see I'm not the minority here.

I'll be honest now and tell you though, I'm a big Happy Birthday fan and I might have splurged on the Nordie's three-pack with Candy Shop and Forget You. I can't wait to try these on...

You should try it over a color! I have GITA on its own but I love it when I wear it over a light blue, white or pale pink!

Yep...for me, GitA was thee polish disappointment of the year. Another polish would be hard pressed to unseat it.

I learned on line a great way to wear Glitter in the Air. I use DL Naked or Essie Sand Tropez works really well too (close but not exact dupe). Then Glitter in the Air over that as a topper. It's quite summery and really fresh looking. The fact there is not a ton of glitter in this one is what makes it look wispy and summery fresh, esp over a med. rich nude shade. I have put it over pink creams and power blue creams with good effect. All in all, I never expected it to be a stand on it's own but only an overlay. I have the most compliments when folks see it over Sand Tropez or Naked. It's a way to have glitter nails and still carry off any clothing, even makes a glitter polish appropriate for a corp. environment job. Do try it again with different base shades, esp a naked (but not a white really pale chalky one).

I think the effect is supposed to look light & airy. Too much glitter wouldn't give that look.

I have this polish and kind of like it... it's different, I wear it on its own and layered over blue shades... I don't know there is just something about it...

If you want to swap this one with me I'd be happy to!

is it easy to apply?

This is one glitter I wait for. Not a big fan of this. Maybe someone will make a dupe of it.

It would be awesome if only it were opaque.

I was tremendously excited about this but letdown now that I see pictures of it. I think it would work if the blue wasn't so sheer.

Indoor - that lippmann three pack looks like jammed full of glitter but that one is definitely not my taste so I'm glad I get to save the $!

Carly, beachgal - I just don't do layering. I don't know why. It's not my thing at all. It's kept my from obsessing over 230.

Chaos - Ya it just ain't great. It's kind of like a completely airheaded hot guy. At first you're like "ooooh" but then with 2 minutes you're like "ehhhhhhhh."

aurora - maybe.

kiki, Jo, Sia, Lucy, Stephanie - glad you like!

katherine - Ya. No complaints.

Lucy - maybe :)

Painting - i just wish there was more glitter and the base was just a bit stronger

katie - agree!
