Lippmann Funky Chunky

(2 coats)

So... I don't hate this. It reminds me of an 80s purse in black patent faux-snakeskin (with a chain armstrap!). I've never hated this. I've worn it a few times, in fact.

This is a trick to apply and to dry: The glitter sinks so you have to shake it like a polaroid picture in between coats and then you have to sit and let it dry because a top coat would ruin the finish. The whole situation is not ideal. But it's so weird, different, and hated that I have to like it...like an underdog.

I actually like it in some ways! Would I buy it...probably not. The effect is interesting, but I would love it to have some different color glitter.

I wish I had this. Black is one of my favorite colors and this black glitter in a black base looks so unusual, unique and absolutely awesome. Love it! :)

How are you making this work!? This is supposed to be one of the biggest fails of polish history. YOU MUST BE A WIZARD.

I've always been strangely attracted to this one..and wondered what all the hate mail for it was about. :) Love it even more now.

It's such a weird one...that's what makes this an awesome and unique polish

I discovered the nail polish blogs when this polish was new. I saw a picture of someone's "franken" of it and loved it. I could not imagine that someone would make such a polish! Black, with texture - not just shiny and glossy. I then realised that the polish was hated by so many, for being a "failed glitter". I wish this polish was available here.. I really does look amazing on you.

HAHA you are totally right, but I kinda love it!

this looks amazing on you! i think it needs nubs to look right - any other lengths just makes it look sloppy and unfinished. now i wanna chop my nails and wear this! :D

Glad to see this one on with your review. I had heard about it, seen the bottle but I don't look good in plain blacks so had not opted for it. Now I don't think I want it in my stash. I would still put a top coat on it AFTER it dried really well. Would like the glitter would lift if no topper on it.

How the hell did you get this to look decent? I hate the damn polish. I was really pissed that I spent so much money for such an ugly ass polish! Deborah Lippmann said it was supossed to be sheer looking. It wasn't meant to be a glittery polish. I got an email from her explaining. Or maybe it was just someone from her company. I guess I complained so much about it. I swore I wouldn't buy any more of her polishes. Well that didn't happen. The way Ms. Lippmann wants it worn is ugly to me. Just looks like a fail. Your way it looks good.

K2K - Bwahahah! It would be SUCH an accomplishment to get Lippmanns worked into your stash. Especially the most hated one!

Hlop - I hear ya :)

Christina, Sia, Lila, Angie, mw@, PolishSis, Pam - Yay! I'm glad you like it.

Courtney, Annelie - So sweet. Thanks!

Chaos - ~the power of suggestion~

keerthi - I'M FREAKING THRILLED TO HAVE YOU BACK AND BLOGGING!

Laura - I've encountered polishes that were even more of a PITA if you can believe it. People just really like to hate this.

Indoor - Top 5 blacks?? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Lacquered Lizard - Oh good! Another believer.

rmc - Thanks! And no problem. It's certainly not a no brainer polish.

Normal - I think I disagree. With careful application, even long-nailed ladies could make it work.

beachgal - nooooo no top coat. The black glitter bumpy effect disappears and it's just a weird thick black.

Lucy - I didn't worry with Ms. Lippmann's haughty, self-indulgent instructions. I just applied it as best I could and I like the effect.

It looks great on you and I'm glad to see it getting a positive mention!
