10 random things about xfoxglove. :)

Here's my contribution to the 10 things posts (with a few photos I found from my old Flickr account).

10.  Before MUA, I posted regularly on Craftster.org.  I love crafting and did a lot of it before I started college since I don't really have the room for it anymore.  I've been sewing for a few years.  Embroidery has stayed with me since it doesn't take up a lot of space.  I've tried knitting and crocheting & have a few scarves to prove it.  I've also stenciled a lot of t-shirts and have tried painting.  I'm starting to get into jewelry making right now, but need to order supplies first, which keeps getting pushed off because of the pretty polishes I'm lemming at the moment!

9.  I'm a city girl through-and-through, but I want to try out Seattle to be closer to some nature.  :)

8.  I also love the rain.  My mom and I used to have tea parties when it stormed and the power went out.  Rain reminds me of that.  Plus it smells crazy good!

7.  I love reading, but haven't finished a non-school book in years.

6.  I wish everybody could realize just how much happiness an animal can bring into your life.  My SO & I have two cats and when I'm stressed out or upset, all I need to do is hug them and hear them purr and I feel a million times better!  Animals love unconditionally.

5.  I write poetry & have won some small awards for it.  I'm currently entering some work to my university's literary magazine.

4.  Maybe it's strange, but I love riding public transit.  Sitting on the subway or the train gives me time to myself, to think of things.  Or to watch other people.  When I'm at home, I usually force myself to do work for school or other more "productive" things.

3.  I think what I study (mostly media & culture) is really important.  I get upset when people tell me I should have gone into Accounting instead of doing what I did (which is something I love) just because it may end up being not quite as lucrative.

2.  I wish I was a little older so I could have enjoyed the 90s.  Flannel and mix tapes and answering machines and all that guilty pleasure music!

1.  I'm sad that this is my last year of undergrad and all of my friends will be transplanted across the country, but I'm still looking forward to what is to come!

thanks for the comments, guys! i will share the love with the furbabies!

daydream - it's not terribly functional. the lashes are plastic and would get ruined. but i've used it for a quick costume a bunch of times!

D - i will definitely share the jewelry when I get to it. I need to buy some serious supplies first and the website with all the beads and things has WAY too many pretties to decide too quickly.

I could totally see it as an awesome costume! The mask on with silly tassel earplugs, PJs..awesome twist on a Breakfast at Tiffany's costume!

What a wonderful time your Mother spent with you having the tea parties. My Mom always played with me when I was younger. We always had tea parties, played dress-up and of course hairdresser. I don't think a five year old is too good at fixing hair. I used to set it in curlers for her. I also painted her nails. You can see where my love for nail polish started. That's really amazing that you've won awards for your poetry. That's a wonderful accomplishment. You should be very proud of yourself. Do what you love is what's always said by happy and successful people. I think it's right that you follow your heart and not others hearts. Now relax and read a good fiction book.

hehe - thanks lucy!

i was an only child, so when friends weren't around, my mom and i did all sorts of things together. i'm glad you had the same kinds of experiences with your mom! they are some of my fondest memories.
