Grooming My (French) Poodle.

Parlez-Vous OPI? Mais OUI!!

I have no poodle to groom Cake, so I groom my nails.

This is a polish from the OPI France Collection, which in my mind, is the 2nd best OPI collex of *all time*. It makes me feel fabulously French in that avant-garde fashion-editorial kind of way. Like I'm the kind of woman who would wear a Catharine Malandrino shift straight off the runway, and, looking like I belonged in a Vogue spread with my Lanvin bag gracefully dangling from the crook of my arm, trot down cobblestone streets to the nearest Patisserie, where I would eat a croissant, never get fat, and my lipstick would never smear.

And my nails would be the perfect shade of dusty purple that is both elegant and classy, edgy and unique, at the same time.

This is a polish I've had for a while, but haven't broken out in forever. I actually got it in lab!

Sidebar: My PI will only buy OPI polish for the lab (we use it for sealing microscope slides and he seems to care about both quality and prettiness....) and this colour popped up in the stock! I looked for it everywhere and it was sold out all the time! I finally decided to just take it home with me! (Don't worry I'm not a stealer - I substituted it with a different OPI polish in a manly shade for the guys in lab.)

I haven't worn it in a long time and had completely forgotten how awesome it is on the nail. I love shades that are kind of dusted-out because I think they look super-chic and more neutral than their brighter counterparts, and this is no exception. Purple is kind of my signature colour as well so that adds to the love! I had also forgotten how amazing the formula was - this was *almost* a one coater but needed two to be perfect. No pulling or bald spots like sometimes happen with paler cremes either. I guess this isn't super pale, but medium? (Go Medium!) Either way, it applied like non-dairy vegetable spread.

Nothing like shopping in your own stash to (re-)discover a great colour! Ooh la la!

Have you ever gone shopping in your own collection?? Do you think the dusty-colours trend is "over"??

That's really pretty, seems to dry darker than the bottle color. I love it!
I shop my own collex all the time, thanks to all the nail blogs I read, I have so many untrieds...more than the trieds at this point. LOL

Yes, I've gone shopping in my own stash. After seeing a color on a blog and thinking I love that and then finding I do have it. Also when moving storage and finding a color I forgot I had.

The other day I purchased a color that I *forgot* I already owned...sometimes stash shopping is a really good idea.

I hope the dusty-color trend isn't gone. I am quite fond of them (and this one looks totally chic on you).

@ heidi - I did the same thing! I wanted a vampy burgundy for a half moon mani and picked up Essie's Sole Mate, only to come home and realize that I already own it. I usually layer it over black (it has some opacity issues) and kind of forgot what it looked like on it's own.

I currently have so many colors I haven't even worn, but every once in a while I will dig out an old favorite and fall in love all over again. A few weeks ago I put on SOPI Metro Chic (okay so it's not THAT old) and could not stop staring at my nails all day. I actually prefer Metro Chic to YDKJ, but I do own it (along with it's matte sister) and a few others from the french collection. I do not have this one, but every time I see it, I wish I did!

I have this color and I love it, the France collection was one of my favorites too!

I love your description of how it makes you feel! That's how I think of 'feeling chic and French' too ^_^ It looks so pretty and sophisticated on you, I can totally see you elegantly consuming a magically calorie-less croissant with those hands :)

I don't think I have any dusty types. Unless Barielle's Slate of Affairs is, I kind of think of it as dusty, or at least greyed-out. Either way, if you like it (and it suits you ;) you should wear it, that's what I firmly believe :D

@lizard - It definitely does dry darker than in the bottle! Its not just the pic. I love it though. Get going on your untrieds!! I want to see! :)

@Arrianne - I always think its funny when a new collex comes out and I realize I already have colours that are virtually dupes, or that I like better. (i.e. Essie Lilacism and Essie St. Lucia Lilac)

@Heidi - Hahaha! Back-up perhaps? I also hope the dusty trend is here to stay. I love these colours. More, please!

@Grace - Metro Chic is one of my all-time favs!!! I find it really different from YDKJ so its definitely worth owning both, but I actually swapped my YDKJ away when I got Particuliere - they were pretty close and I knew I'd always rather choose Particuliere.

@gilded - I know a lot of people found the France collection boring, so I'm glad that you liked it like I did!

@Jenny - Ahhhh if only I really was that chic and French....and where is this calorie-less croissant!? *needs* Oh well if I can't have the whole package at least I have the nails for it? And you're right about trends - who care? Wear what you love. I whole-heartedly agree. But when something is 'in' more shades in that vein come out, and I hope the companies keep my dusty shades a-comin'!

@Juicy - One of mine too! <3

@Rhea - Hehe exactly!!

Oh God, I love that color. I've gone through two bottles. I'm on my third bottle and I just bought a back-up from TransDesign! I loved this collection too as it was practically all purple (my favorite color)! It's a back-up, back-up, back-up, back-up worthy shade.

I'm majorly trying to shop my stash rather than spend spend spend right now. I love the dusty colors trend - my favorite color is Essie's Chinchilly which is just gorge. This purple is seriously nice on you - refined, chic, but also a little bit interesting and edgy.

@Kate - Wow girl you must really love it!! I agree though - so back-up worthy!

@scarlett - Ooo I don't have Chinchilly - I have Particuliere which Ive seen in fairly close? I love Essies though! And thanks :)
