Airport Find: OPI I'm A Princess You're Not!

I was in the Indianapolis Airport recently and my flight out was delayed. Like *really* delayed. So I wandered over to the spa/salon (and by 'wandered over' I mean 'as soon as I saw it and the nail polish it contained, I tried to act casual but was secretly plotting to race over ASAP'). I made friends with the ladies at the spa - they were super nice and noticed and complimented my Jade is the New Black mani! - and browsed their NP selection. (I also ogled the NFL draft picks that were swarming the airport that day with the ladies...nice...). I ended up walking out with OPI I'm A Princess You're Not! I had been lemming OPI Pearl of Wisdom so I thought this would be a good sub. It took me forever to try it, (a lovely NB'er told me about how she was wearing it and it encouraged me!) but in the end, I think I love it more than I would have liked Pearl of Wisdom!:

Because of the iridescent nature of this polish, it is *seriously* hard to capture on camera. In indirect light, it looks like pearls melted on top of your nails, like the picture above. Trust me, its way more gorgeous than my photo shows. And then when you get it in the sun, there is an explosion of pink and teal shimmer that I attempted to capture here:

Again, looks way more awesome in person - the shimmer so is lovely and sparkly! What I especially love about this is that its not streaky at all! Most pearly polishes are so streaky that they make my hands look sweaty (does that make any sense? most likely no...) but this one is the exception. In indirect light it flashes a nude, pinky-purple, perhaps a little green? It just looks like luscious pearl nacre and I love that!

I did four coats of this beauty over one coat of Barielle Natural Nail Camouflage, but I could have stopped at three. I still have VNL, but I don't mind that at all - its the kind of VNL that isn't super revealing - it makes my whites look great instead of the hot mess they really are! I think if I had done an extra layer or two of Camo it would have been opaque, for those of you who dislike sheers...

I am really happy I picked this up on a whim at the airport. And guess what? My flight ended up being cancelled! I had to fly out the next morning instead. Now I will always think of the Indianapolis(h) Airport when I wear this! (Indianapolish!? Get it?! Wooo...it's been a long day...)

Have you ever hunted down polishes at the airport? What do you think of this one? I know lots of people aren't into the pearly look but this one certainly converted me!

Pretty. Very pretty.
Had a great mani at Montreal airport with OPI Electric Eel over another darker OPI green. Had a good chat with the manicurist too. I found out more about Canada before I left for home (England). Holidays are great but I do like to know what it's like to live there and talk to the locals.

Man, I wish I had this again now that I see it on your fingers. You have a talent for making what's generally unpopular on the NB (sheers, pale pinks, etc) very, very, very beautiful and unique. I love this!

I think the only "pearly" finishes I have are Hawaiian Orchid and Her Royal Shyness. I love Hawaiian Orchid so much I frequently accidentally pick up a bottle at the drug store without realizing what it is. As for HRS, it's gorgeous in the bottle, but on the nail it's too brushstrokey and I always wind up removing it right away. I love the shimmer in this one, though. I'll have to keep an eye out.

@Scandalous - Yes it does! I got a facial there once that was awesome! Are you from Indy? My parents live there :)

@jaljen - Thank you - and your airport mani sounds gorgeous! And I couldn't agree more - knowing what its like to live in a different place is awesome and totally different from holiday :)

@Irides - Thanks so much :) I often question blogging at all because I don't general wear/blog the super popular colours and I think people might not want to read my posts....your comments mean a lot :)

@Grace - I do that all the time!! I pick up a polish that I'm like "oooo I like that" and its one that I own! I'm going to have to look into HO

@Alison - I think the collection this was released in was great! I would love a couple of the others I think! :) How you liking Pearl of Wisdom??

I love your series of sheer/pink/nude polishes! As a professional student* right now, I wear whatever color nail polish I want. One day, I'll need to transition to office-friendly colors. Yup, I plan to conform. (Please don't hate me!) However, I don't dread the prospect because I truly think sheers/pink/nudes look so pretty, feminine, and elegant. OPI I'm a Princess You're Not is going on my wishlist!

*Or is that student professional? Regardless, I think I'm in good company on this blog!

I agree with Irides, you make me lem? nudes and sheers that I would never ever think twice of. That sounds like a fun time at the airport spa. I'm not a fan of airplanes, never been on one. Shocking!

@Justine - Thanks!! I think I got on this kick because lately I've been thinking about joining the real world and being in a professional environment (I don't hate you - I'm doing the same thing!) I feel like a lot of my polishes will go unloved then and have to go to other homes. But it turns out I have quite a few that I count as "work appropriate" and that's what I've been wearing lately. You are indeed in good company - I hope every day that I'm not a professional student!!!

@Arrianne - Ah I'm so glad you like it too! :) It really is good to hear people who don't mind my "boring" posts! :) It's cool about airplanes - my cousin has never been on one either!

Pearl of wisdom is soooo pretty, sheer (which I like anyway)and lovely and sparkly.

I liked the Princess Charming collection too, I also have Princesses Rule which is a pink version of Hollywood Blonde and is lovely.

@mr. pineapple man - Your name makes me giggle! I love it! And thank you for the kind words!

No I haven't got a blog, I wouldn't know where to start. Plus I would be afraid that I wouldn't have the time to post regularly enough to satisfy any followers!

I ordered Essie Big Dipper yesterday, a sparkly white, it got good reviews on MUA so I'm really looking forward to it arriving. I know you are a fellow Essie lover and I will try to post a pic on the NB asap.

I have Big Dipper and love it!!! It's like OPI Happy Anniversary but scaled down a bit! I love it over a lot of my Essie sheers when I need a little sparkle :(

Yeaph - you need to find a Princesses Rule. It's got full color to it - but along the lines of this shade here - just full color. I am sad it's not a part of the reg. collection. I too like another commenter said a huge fan of Pearl of Wisdom - I stumbled into one last bottle of it about June of 2010 I think at a beauty supply. It's another that I wish they had put into the classics.
