A little candy coating: OPI Panda-monium Pink

A friend of mine recently got this colour done as a mani and told me that she loved the 'candy-coating' pastels that are out this spring. To us polish-speakers, she means cremes! But honestly I love the imagery of the candy coating so much, it made me pull the trigger on this polish. I wavered back and forth and back and forth on this one for the longest time! I'm very glad I finally got my hands on it.

OPI Panda-monium Pink:

left bottle: Panda-monium Pink; right bottle: Lucky Lucky Lavender; nails: Panda-monium Pink (weird right?)

Preface: When will it stop raining so I can get a decent picture?!? When????! Incentive to finally build my lightbox I guess...

Panda-monium Pink a really pretty lilac-tinged opaque pink. The colour dries darker than in the bottle - in fact, the colour it dries to is exactly the colour of OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender in the bottle! LLL also dries darker than it appears in the bottle and looks really odd on my tips, but I love it on my toes, and I think this would be a great mani/pedi combo! I've just been into pinks lately. This particular pink makes my skin look tanner without looking like I dipped my fingers in some sort of toxic neon dye. Being cool-toned, I think that the blue-toned pinks flatter me more than the warmer pinks.

The formula on this is...not the awesomest. I was a little disappointed because I felt like the other two Hong Kong Collection polishes that I have (Jade is the New Black & Lucky Lucky Lavender) both had better application - this one was a little streaky and applied like most pastels - a little difficult, a little balding around the cuticles, but was fixed in 3 coats. Just not a joy, but workable. Since I love the colour, I will let it slide.

I do feel like I have a little candy-coating on my nails - like the shell of an M&M! This is everything that I wanted RBL Smitten to be (Smitten was such a fail I didn't even keep it on long enough to take a pic!). I think this colour is perfect for spring - a pastel pink that doesn't look white and washed out.

There are a lot of pastel cremes out there for spring - which are your favs?

I do find it very odd that this polish dries to the bottle color of LLL. But, it is a nice pastel color. My favorite Pastels were from the China Glaze Up & Away collection. Over just a solid collection. :D

@Crystal Polish - It is really weird, but both of those colours dry quite a bit darker...tres bizarre. But I do love the colour! If I wore ChG, Up & Away would have so been mine!!! That was a great one :)

@Jessica - Thank you! Are you not into pastels?

@NY*NAIL*DIVA - You're right - it *is* yummy! :)

@mzc1ark24 - Hey thanks for saying so! :)

Why do you not wear China Glaze?

Very pretty though!

@Reese - Oi its a long story, but basically I've spent a lot of time/money/effort on trying to make China Glaze polishes work for me, but no matter what they always chip almost instantly. Its ridiculous. People keep trying to make me try it again, but I seriously went through years of heartbreak before I decided to throw in the towel and just stick to the brands that I know work!

oh it looks great on you! I have a different skin tone, but also love pastel colours on me. Recently I got "What's with the cattitude?" from OPI Shrek's collection and I love it! though application is a nightmare... My absolute favourite this season is China Glaze Light as air, looks great on toes too!

Hey Friend! This looks so pretty on you! It's so weird it dries the same as the other pastel in this collex. I didn't get any of the pastels from OPI just Essie Lilacism but it didn't work on me, I got corpse hands! I think the creme finishes just don't work on me I like something with a bit of shimmer even though at the moment I've been having a bit of a break from polish *hides* my nails seem much healthier for it.

@Natalia - Thank you!! What's with the cattitude? looks gorgeous! Was application really that bad?? This one was pretty bad too. Its just a pastel thing but its really annoying - I love how they look after theyre on though! And good choice with Light as Air - love purples.

@Alison - Hey! *waves* :) I have Essie St. Lucia Lilac and I actually like that better than Lilacism. It's not as blue-toned I think? That might work for you. And nothing wrong with a polish break! I just never do it because if I let my nails go without polish for more than half an hour I magically get about 60 hangnails....I'm glad your nails are feeling better for it!

I just love Barry M Icecream! It kind of reminds me of Agent Lavender but I don't know how accurate that statement is.
