Scherer Chameleon Blue Sky (and then layered with glitter!)

This is a brand I always pick up in the drugstore and almost always pass up. Should have passed up this one...

Scherer Chameleon Blue Sky

Hot. Sticky. Gloopy. Uneven. Splotchy. Streaky. MESS. This polish was NOT worth it. It does have a nice blue-green-purple duochrome effect with a shiny metallic finish, I will give it that much. But man, does it apply badly. I felt like I was painting my fingernails with pretty Elmer's Glue. Four coats to even it out and then you still saw a bit of brushstrokiness and it clung to every damn ridge on every damn nail. Topcoat helped a tiny bit. Maybe it didn't like Gelous basecoat?

I felt better after I added some glitter from one of those bear-shaped polishes. No idea what company makes those...

I think it's cute that you can see the bear's nose in this picture, sort of it. It probably looks like a wrinkled bit of glass to you all since the bear shape isn't as obvious in this photo. This bear contained blue, purple and silver glitter.

I got suckered by that Chameleon too! Application was so horrible that I will never buy another Chameleon. Looks great with that glitter!

I don't really like it as is, but it's quite nice with the glitter.

I've never heard of that polish before! On its own it's okay, but that glitter makes it stunning!

I actually like Scherer's hehe. I'm a duochrome lover...so...
With the glitter it seems to lose a bit of the duochrome, but it is still a pretty color :)

I was tricked by Chameleon as well! It looks so pretty in the bottle...but it's pretty gross. I don't think it was just your basecoat either. I've tried it with Orly Bonder, as well as a couple of other random things, and the results are pretty much always the same.

I think Fing'rs is the company that makes the bear-shaped polishes. :D

Bear polishes...they're not the Bear Fing'rs ones, are they? I have one labeled 10 Frost Teal from *cough* many years ago in a teddy bear shaped glass bottle, and I thought they were discontinued ages ago. It's probably my oldest polish and I've never ever used it...I just loved the teddy bear bottle!

Sorry about the unfortunate application...

The bear bottles remind me of those honey containers that are shaped like bears, lol. :)

What a shame. It's such a pretty duochrome. Love the pretty top coat. I have one of those bears. I havne't worn it yet.

@brazenspider: I had to put the glitter over it. It looked so lumpy alone!

@birdsofafeather: don't blame you a bit. :)

@aurora: it's most commonly found in Rite Aid, I think. I haven't seen it in any other drugstore.

@sarah b: Do you have a secret for making it not glue-like in application? If so, do share!! :)

@crystal: Fing'rs? Like the people who make the funky press on nails?

@tropicalchrome: Yep, it's a teddy bear shaped bottle. I got it on eBay along with some other old drugstore polishes. I forget which polish I was actually trying to buy though... it was a lot that had one polish that I was super lemming... plus four others that were nice. The bear was definitely nice. :)

@zara: mmm, honey... I'm having weird sweet toothy cravings lately.

@lucy: Which one of the bears?

Yeah it is Fing'rs. I remember getting a cool green bear polish when I was little from my aunt. I loved that shit and it was a pain to apply and stained my nails.

I bought some of this over the weekend (I found your blog while looking for pictures of it to show someone).

The one I got was the opposite of thick and gloppy, it was almost too thin, so maybe they changed the formula? Anyway, the color is gorgeous, but for me, it chipped within a couple of hours, so it might still not be worth it, but who knows? I didn't use a base or topcoat, and I'm an artist so I use my hands constantly, polish doesn't last on me the way it does other people.
