I Love Accent Nails!

I love doing accent nails.  It's actually my favorite way to wear those super glittery polishes that are a huge pain in the butt to remove (even with the foil method).  I love wearing a plain creme or jelly polish as my main color and then a coordinating glitter bomb on my ring finger or thumb.  This is super easy since you don't have to be very creative to do it.

Here's a recent accent manicure I did with Orly Orange Punch and OPI Extra-Va-Vaganza ring fingers.  I used four coats of the Orly and three of the OPI.

I got a close-up picture of the glittery ring finger for you.

Another recent accent manicure I liked consisted ofOPI Lincoln Park After Dark with OPI Mad As a Hatter thumbs.  I went with three coats of each for this one.

I even went with an accent nail manicure for Christmas last year.  I loved this one.  I went with (I think?) three coats of BB Couture Fairy Blood for the red and three coats of China Glaze Emerald Sparkle for the green.

This was one of my favorite accent manicures.  I went with four coats of Essie Marshmallow and four coats of Pure Ice Strapless.

Another favorite of mine is Essie Licorice with OPI Mad As a Hatter ring fingers.  I went with three coats of the Essie and four of the OPI.

Another one I did around the same time is OPI A Grape Fit! and Mad As a Hatter.  I did three coats of each.

I also love this combination and I've done it several times since.  This is three coats of OPI Dating a Royal with four coats of OPI Absolutely Alice.

And last, but not least, is a manicure I did with three (maybe four) coats of OPI Do You Lilac It? and Mad As a Hatter.

I know accent nails are everybody's cup of tea, but they sure are mine!

  2. I love an accent nail, too, though I haven't worn one in a long while. Must fix that. Your pics really show how versatile MaaH is; such a great glitter.

  5. I like this so much! I have to try this out to! I never wear glitter, because I'm too lazy to remove them all with the foil method, but I can do one.

  12. Fantastic manicures. Love them all. It is a terrific idea just to do one nail with glitter. I love glitter and usually don't mind taking it off. Great idea for people who can't commit to 10 fingers of fun.

  17. It is a great way to have glitter in your life. I do accent nail a lot. Not as boring as 5 nails the same.

  18. Very cool! Sometimes a fistful of nail art or glitter is waaayyyy over the top, while a straight mani is deathly dull. Accent nails are the perfect answer! Thank you for the inspiration, and your color combos are spot-on!

  20. Awesome sparkly accents! I saw these pics and rushed to put MAAH on my thumbs, even though it doesn't go with my mani (DS divine) at all! Can you please tell me how you get such fabulous macro shots of the glitter? I've been trying and trying and can't get them as crisp as yours :( Please halp! hotmetalchicky@hotmail.com xx

  23. Just about the only way I do glitter as well. One of my favorites recently has been an Atlantis accent with Watermelon Rind (both China Glaze).

  24. I love this! I prefer to wear glitterbombs like this too except I do ring fingers and thumbs. Great for polishes you want to conserve (like MAAH and AA).

  25. I am sooo with you on accent nails! I am planning a OPI Big Apple Red vs. OPI Glitzerland combo for my friends wedding reception this weekend. Just like you say, it's easy, creative and most importantly fun for those of us (esp. me!) who aren't that good at nail art. Wonderful post, thank you!

  30. love the essie marshmallow and strapless one! and the licorice and mad as a hatter. with 4 coats, yikes! did it last long? i feel like when i do that many coats (with letting each coat dry first) the polish doesnt last that long and its ends up peeling off in the shower 2 days later. =\
makes me wish i bought MAAH

  31. I love accent manis!!! I always do the ring finger, but my go-to mani used to be black creme with a lime green shimmer on the ring finger.

I also love that we had a similar idea with holiday manicures, my accent was emerald sparkle, but I did silver & white instead of red.

    holiday mani #1
    holiday mani #2
