American Apparel Mannequin.... eugh.

I usually LOVE American Apparel polishes. I think they've got some of the best, most affordable cremes on the market and their color range is eclectic (even though they only do cremes).

This is one I'd return if I could.

American Apparel Mannequin
A nude shade that looks more pink on me than it does in the bottle. Three coats. Goopy, streaky, aggravating, impossible.

Also: I wasn't allowed to use my Groupon that I bought to American Apparel for the purpose of stocking up their nail polish! Why? Because it is "multibrand": the fact that nail polish is considered "multibrand" on isn't on the coupon at all. It just says that you can't use the coupon on "multibrand" items.

Isn't it funny that no other brand is listed on the actual bottle? I was pretty pissed. If there is no indication that nail polish doesn't qualify for the Groupon -- and no indication on the bottle that any other company makes the nail polish -- then I really don't think I should've been prohibited from using the thing.

That being said... obviously they don't manufacture the nail polish like they may manufacture their clothes. But I wouldn't know that if I didn't spend my life immersed in nail polish.

But now what am I going to do with $50 to American Apparel? Buy $50 worth of leggings?

I had the same trouble, and groupon credited my account for me -- might be worth trying.

That shade is truly hideous. But your nails are beautiful!

Ugh, sorry this didn't work out for you. sounds like you need to swap!!!!!!!!

Ugh, I almost bought that Groupon! So happy I didn't. What the hell? You'd think it'd be mentioned. That SUCKS!

Yuck, that totally stinks you can't use it on polish. I can't stand AA as a company and won't buy their polishes or their clothes. But hopefully like the above comment reads, you can try at a different store!

I have had so many problems ordering from AA, even though I love their polishes. Maybe get some T shirts and sweats? lol

Oi, that is a funky color indeed. I say buy a hoodie and call it a day. or stock up on those ruched panties.

Try a different store... I have 3 in my area and talked to two who would let me use my Groupon and one who wouldn't before I spent it!

I had the same issue with them not letting me use my Groupon on polishes! but I bought a few anyway. I love the ones I got.

I did not have trouble spending the rest of the groupon though. I love their leggings, tights, & tank tops (they don't stretch out!).

American Apparel has some cute stuff sometimes. The dresses are nice and there's this coat there right now that kind of resembles a cape that I desperately want. Also, cute sunglasses for when the sun actually comes back out, nice scarves, pens, and t-shirts. I think you could spend $50 there.

As for the groupon, I'd see if they'll credit your account. Or as a couple other people suggested, go to a different store. I'd also talk to the manager and point out that the polish doesn't indicate it's "multibrand" on the bottle. Sometimes if you get pissed off enough they'll relent ;)

Yikes!

I almost bought the groupon but didn't because I really dislike the way the company is run...now I'm glad I didn't. Between your troubles and that color....eesh.

I bought the groupon and was able to use it on polish at the store in Baltimore. It is sadly easy to spend $50 there. The problem is that anything of good quality is far far above $50.

Another good reason not to buy AA products if their sexual objectification of women and pig of an owner wasn't already reason enough.

I would have thrown a hissy right there in the store until someone pushed a button to take my Groupon! I really hate 'gate-keepers!'

That polish looks like the skin of a hand-me-down plastic baby doll. Throw that polish in the canal!

Not too crazy about this shade. Looks like a band-aid. Very annoying when there are store "police". Good idea to contact someone who might get you your credit back.

I heard they weren't accepting the groupon for polishes so I was able to return it back to groupon. But then again I did it right away.

:( Sorry you didn't like Mannequin. It actually worked amazing for me.

Leggings...yes....and scarves....and the shiny headbands (on clearance right now)...and the skinny braided belts...

Oh, wait, that was me!! LOLOLOLOL

I <3 AA, but that is wack about the Groupon.

I don't much care for this one on me, either.

It indeed doesn't look very pretty.. and I'm glad I didn't get that Groupon deal then! But I would buy a bikini for it I think :).

I haven't had this problem with the formula in other shades of polish from them (I think I have about 6 of them, just not this particular color). In general I really like their formula and I get full coverage in pretty much just one coat. Applies thick, controlled and neat. I really love the dark greens, blues and rust orange.
