Want to see something awful? - Essie Navigate Her

I have a lot of green polishes I love, but....

Bahahaha this is terrible on me!!!

Truly revolting with my skintone. Too bad, I really liked it in the bottle! Formula was quite nice as well.

What was your latest polish fail?

Well this isn't a really polish fail but.. Sally hansen nail strips. The design is cute but they're so uneven! I own too much polish to justify buying more of these strips.

That sucks that this didn't work for you! Its one of my favorites this year.

Coincidentally, it was Essie A Crewed Interest. It looked absolutely awful on me. BTW, this polish doesn't really look bad on you; maybe it's the lighting. Oh, Also, I received in on of my Birchboxes a mini of Zoya Farah. It made me look like I was dead, LOL. The shade was the same as my skin! I can use it as a base for something else. :) ^^

OMG the same thing happened to me! I really wanted to like this collection but it just didn't work out quite well...

This is a hard shade to pull off for many...but those who cannot pull off most of the mint greens CAN wear this shade. It has enough yellow in it that it works for those who have wanted a light green but kept trying the mints only to find they don't work - (ditto on light pale blues too for this same group...me). My shade fails revolve around a ton of polishes that looked like they would be blue or purple in the bottle but look black in 99.999% of lighting on me. I am really tired of paying for something that I think is blue or deep purple and getting black. I need a tish more of the color...so I end up either getting rid of most of them or putting a sheer topper on them. That's my biggest color beef and I am sure I will see more of this same come fall and winter again this year.

They should have named it "Shrek." Not my cup of tea at all.

That exact same thing happened to me with Navigate Her. I was so excited, and the second the brush touched my nail I knew it was going to get ugly. That color made me look ill.

It's funny, I'm actually wearing Navigate Her right now! I LOVE it. Sorry it didn't work for you!

Ugh I feel the same way. When I saw Navigate Her in the bottle I HAD to have it. Put it on and YUCK BARF UGHGHGHG looked SO AWFUL on me, it was disgusting. I swapped that crap!

My last polish fail was Essie Demure Vixen. Very similar situation to yours; I thought it looked awesome in the bottle but on my skintone it just looks gross.

A pitty it did Not work for you - neither did it for me, looked the same on me - yuk.

I don't think it looks bad on you at all, but wear what you enjoy, forget us in the peanut gallery. The only color I hate on me is bright canary/schoolbus yellow.

i had a horrible experience with this color too! much too yellow for my cool skin. if you're willing to pony up the dough for a butter london polish, you might try bossy boots, which is the only other polish out that satisfies the craving for a truly pistachio creme.

UGHHH! My latest polish fail was Rescue Beauty Lounge, Jack in the Pulpit. And damned expensive, too!! It has a hunter green base (which isn't my favorite color, anyway) but contains a micro shimmer blue/green that I thought would redeem it by standing out. Nope. Just poopy hunter green. Fail. :/

@ h20: Same experience with Essie Demure Vixen, too. I wanted so badly to like it, but the micro shimmer never showed. It just left that old lady mauve base. Ick!

@screamviolence - Do you mean the designs are uneven? I also can't justify them at that price! I buy them with extra bucks or if they're on a good sale...but I still definitely prefer my polish. I probably shouldnt buy any at all!

@Angie - I think objectively it's super pretty and special! That's what I bought it. I'm super bummed it looks so crap on me. :(

@Isis04 - Oh nooo!!! A Crewed Interest is one of my all-time favs! And trust me, this thing is bad on me. This is literally the *best* I could get it to look. :(

@Eileenie - Tragic right!?

@beachgal - I typically can't pull off mint greens either. :( Mint Candy Apple is horrible on me. Softer shades work better. I'm quite yellow in my skin (although it doesn't look like it here) so I really did think this would work. I was wrong. It does look pretty on lots of people though! I totally feel you on the almost-black thing. I do like an almost black sometimes, but I *loathe* when I try to purchase a dark blue or red or purple polish and it just looks black. Ugh. You're right, we'll see it again. (I see some already from OPI Fall...)

@Melissa - LOL! Not mine either...but I did like it in the bottle! On me....oh lord no.

@Kristen - I'm glad I'm not alone!!! You're exactly right...it looks like I'm ill.

@Unknown - Jealous! I really did have high hopes for this special colour!

@Apple - Bahahahaa I love how expressive you are! And you're spot on. (BTW I swapped that crap too. Hopefully someone is loving it.)

@h20 - Awww yeah DV can be hard. I like that one, but I've seen it look mauve-y sickly on others.

@Christine - Yay! Another person with the same issue with this! So many people love it I was feeling a bit out of place...

@Impoverished by Polish - I don't enjoy wearing a polish that looks like caca on my skin, no matter how much I like it in the bottle! Makes me sad.... and yellows are so impossible!

@ragazzaaroma - I actually loooveeeee Essie Da Bush for a pistachio colour! There are tons of greens I love, don't know why this was so awful.

@Unknown - Oooo that one hurts....such an expensive fail. I feel for you, buddy.

Essie Dive Bar. Loved it, lusted after it for ages, finally bought it. Put it on my nails: HATED IT. Thank god for liberal return policies.

I loved the design (Sweet Tartan) but I didn't think to trim them so I had cuticle coverage for some nails and others not enough nail coverage because it wouldn't stretch! They peeled off in a day! Right now I'm wearing Spa Rituals "Meditate On This". I agree about the price point for the strips, too much for only two manicures!

kittytokaren said...

@Kim - OOooo that is a shame!! Dive Bar really is gorgeous. Yes, we are lucky for the great return policies in the US!

@screamviolence - Ahhh I see what you mean! I would be mad as anything if they peeled off in a day too...ugh.

Speaking of Dive Bar, I'm wearing it on my toes. K2k, I borrowed your Cut Above The Rest manicure idea and layered it over Spa Ritual's Sage. Yes, those nail strips were a complete fail.
