Today I have another retail-exclusive Essie for you - the elusive Mochacino! Essies have started showing up at Walgreens/CVS/Rite-Aid/Walmart locations all over now, so keep your eyes peeled! I had to hunt this one down fairly intensively because stores were still busy stocking their shelves.
Like some of its other retail-only friends - Dive Bar and Master Plan - Mochacino doesn't disappoint. It's a medium taupe with a helping of silver shimmer - it looks like sugar! This taupe has quite a bit more grey in it than Mink Muffs or Hot Coco - much more concrete than chocolate. Application was fabulous, and I believe this was two coats.
I think this colour is pretty unique and special. A lot of taupes have come on the market in recent years, but I can't recall one with this kind of shimmer. My taupe arsenal is pretty huge, but I'm happy to add this little soldier to the bunch.
Have you gone hunting for Essies yet? Any favourites?

I wore master plan to an interview last week, actually. I love it. Essie comes through again with another fabulous neutral! I saw a display at CVS yesterday, but it was tiny and nearly picked clean, so no luck. I did pick up a few colors from the spring collection, though, from a "regular" essie seller. I have high hopes for the pale lavender one. I think it will be much more wearable than lilacism, from last spring.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteA taupe with shimmer? I'll be on the lookout for this polish!
ReplyDeleteWhoa whoa whoa, I really like this one and I didn't expect to! I love your short tips, too, k2k!
ReplyDelete@Grace - I think Master Plan is a *perfect* interview colour! Way to go you!! What kind of job were you interviewing for? I'm on the lookout for interesting careers myself, so I'd love to hear what you're going after! That pale lavender one from the spring collex looks a lot like St Lucia Lilac - which I have and love. It's quite a bit pinker than Lilacism - a lot less blue, and softer/greyer, which I think makes it more wearable. I think Nice is Nice is really similar and without the hidden shimmer. Let me know what you think of it!
ReplyDelete@Spaceinvaders - thank you!!
@Nicole - I know right?! I love taupe, and this added spin had me all worked up and hunting for it!
@extraH - I'm glad you like it!! I've been rocking super short tips lately because for some reason I'm liking it :) Thanks for noticing/complimenting!! :) Means a lot coming from you!

I'll be on the lookout for this one for sure. It looks awesome on you. =)
ReplyDeleteI picked up "Coat Azul" and I LOVE it. Right now I have it on my toes, and every time I take my socks off it's like a little surprise - "Wow, look at that!"
ReplyDeleteO0o0o I looooooove this! *NEED* lol
ReplyDeleteI love this color! It reminds me of a rich hot chocolate on a cold day... mmmmm yummy!!!
ReplyDelete@k2k - I'm interviewing for assistant prof positions. I should be done with my PhD this year (so scary!) so I'm "on the market", as they say.
ReplyDeleteI actually got three of the spring essies (I haven't worn any of them yet because my thumb had a very unfortunate encounter with my mandoline when I was making dinner the other night). I really like the collection, even if it does seem a whole lot like the love child of last year's spring and resort collections. I was a lot less enthused about the OPI display. I only bought one, and really just because I felt like I had to at least try ONE of them.
@Katie - Thank you!! Let me know if you find it. :)
ReplyDelete@Courtney Graham Hipp - That is one gorgeous blue! Glad you're loving it!
@Courtney - Another Courtney! :) That's exactly how I felt when I saw pics of this online!!
@tasha - Hehe the sugary shimmer definitely helps the sweet tooth factor!
@Grace - Ooo good luck!! I should finish in December and I'm kind of panicking as for what to do with my life. :( I got two of those spring Essies - Topless & Barefoot and Kisses & Bises. To be honest, I was expecting more from the spring collection, but I still like it. Like you, OPI's Texas collection hasn't grabbed me - I don't think I'll be picking up any of them. Maybe when its warmer out I'll be more in the mood for brights?

OMG! LOVE! I need this so badly! I've not come across any drug store Essies, and I will make an exception to my current no-buy for this one. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I've been wanting my mom to try a taupe on her nails, but she doesn't like cremes. I'll have to see if we can find this one and maybe she'll get it.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely! I have been on a huge Essie kick lately thanks to you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so getting this!!! x
ReplyDeleteI love this one and went searching for it last night. Sadly, I could not find it. But I did find Trophy Wife at CVS! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked for Essie yet. I do love that polish. The shimmer really makes it special.
ReplyDeletelove, love, love this color!!
ReplyDelete@faerieberry - Oh the dreaded no-buy....
ReplyDelete@auroragyps - I hope your mom likes it!!
@Martha - Hehe I'm glad I've influenced you! Are you liking them? How is the wear for you??
@Sia - Woo!! Let me know how you like it!
@Angie - I've yet to see Trophy Wife in person! What's it like?
@Lucy - I agree - it gives it a little extra something.
@Ayesha - Glad you love it - I do too!

This is absolutely beautiful! I love it! It looks really beautiful on you, you always really suit these types of colours!
ReplyDelete@Alison - You know I'm super obsessed with these types of colours!! :) Has the Essie retail line hit England yet?
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think so. It's not at any of the online retailers.
