My so-called "dud" - OPI My Private Jet

This is the newest version of My Private Jet - the one no one really likes...but I do! It has mild scattered holo glitter with an amber flash...

This is perfect for when I'm in the mood for something a little special and sparkly! Still neutral enough for me to be completely comfortable as well.

I know that by saying this some sort of polish-fan-god is going to come down and smite me, but....you know...I really think that if OPI had released this as a different polish with different name (NOT My Private Jet) that people would really like it! Instead now it's just viewed as a 'dud'. And I think that's just a crying shame.

Do you have a 'dud' that you think is a hidden gem?

  1. I agree...because some people are so hung up on comparing it to the original MPJ, they don't appreciate how gorgeous it actually is. And while I would like to get my hands on a bottle of the original, I love this one too! Scattered holos are so awesome :)

  2. You know what? When I saw this I felt the same! I have this version and I love it! It's both neutral and sparkly at the same time. :)

  3. Looks gorgeous on you! I like the dud version of OPI Bubble Bath (*sssssssh*); it's an easy polished look on me - a great palate cleanser if you will.

  4. I really like this one too. I don't care that it's not the same, it's still a beautiful polish.

  7. I've got MPJ but didn't realize there are 2 versions (or were). How would I know which one mine is?

  8. I love my "dud" version too. It's subtle :)

  9. I think this is the version I have as well (haven't worn it yet) and you're totally right, if this was called anything else people would love it. They might even go so far as calling it a knockoff of MPJ or a somewhat dupe, but they'd like it. It's a very pretty polish on it's own. Why isn't that enough?

  10. I don't have any versions of this. I think this is really pretty. Nice and sparkly. I see nothing wrong with it.

  11. This version looks gorgeous on you ! I thought I had the newest version but mine seems more brown that yours. Mine looks kind of dull/dusty when yours is shiny. I don't know what to think about mine, I'm not really into it I guess.

  12. @colourcoats.com - I'm glad someone feels the same way!! I much prefer scattered holos myself - linear holos make me nauseous for some reason.

    @PerdyClaws - Aw yay someone else who likes this one!! :)

    @Une Ruxi - I love your blog!!

    @Indoor Kitty - *waves* are you indoorkitty from MUA??? I'm kittyje11! The new BB is way pink on me, but I can see how it would be the perfect colour for someone else!

    @Let them have polish - Exactly!

    @Katherine - I feel like we can all come out and confess now that I've put it out there on the internet for all eternity!!

    @Nicole - Isn't it?? And yay glad you like it too!

    @MissViola - I believe that last count there were actually four versions, If you google search "my private jet versions" im sure you can find the blog articles about this!

    @Melissa - Thank you so much!!

    @Rachel Marie - "Dud" fans unite!

    @Varnish Vixen - Seriously, I thought no one loved this! So glad to see the outpouring of support :)

    @Sia - Thanks friend!

    @BMR - You said it better than I did. It SHOULD be enough - and it is for me!

    @Lucy - Same. I see lots of things RIGHT with it in fact.

    @Honey_lili - Thank you!! Sorry you aren't into yours :(

  14. I think I have this version... but it miserably pales in comparison to my other dark holos: Color Club Revvvolution and Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm... so for me it's a 'dud'. I'm thinking of frankening it somehow...

  15. @Courtney - Thank you!!! :) ANd if you do, I hope you like it.

    @Patricia - Hey, to each her own! I dislike strong holos!

  16. I agree with you completely, I have 2 versions of MPJ and I love both immensely. One is the brown with mild scattered holo and one is the black holo (original I think). Personally I think the brown one is stunning but most people want more holo from it. My confession? When I got the black holo I actually kind of liked the brown version I had better. Shhh!

  18. Yup, the same Indoorkitty! I love this blog! And your photos always look so good - none of these shades look *that* amazing on me. :-D

    I agree the new BB is pinker but it works better with my tanned warm-ish hands. I've seen pictures of the old one and it would look off on me.

    Happy Thursday lovely!

  19. I own both versions and I love both! The newer version is very unique, you don't see the deep brown "glowy" shades with holo glitter often at all and I love this one for that :)

  20. Why does OPI change a polish that much and keep the old name? Is it quality control or is it done on purpose? I would love to have either of them, but the local stores NEVER have it.
