GOSH Miss Sweety and a giveaway

This is from the annals of 'colours I loved in the bottle, and hated on me'. In the bottle it had such promise - a lovely peachy tan nude, just a little darker than my skintone. I had it in mind as a potential go-to neutral, for the occasions - conferences, meetings and the like - when my usual manicures are a little de trop. I think it would probably look nice on someone with a tan (i.e. not me, at least not if it keeps raining), but I just can't wrap my head around what's wrong with the colour - too 1980s? Too sickly? Too dark? I'm not sure.
Aside from the colour, the application was a pig. This is three thick coats and the first two were streak city. The third evened it out, but after whacking on some seche vite and waiting half an hour trying not to mush it, I managed to completely melt one nail getting dinner out of the oven. Four. Hours. Later. Then I buggered another nail in the bath six hours after application. Crazy. Needless to say, I won't be reaching for this for a while.

Anyway! Following that rather negative review, I do have a positive. I bought 6 GOSH polishes on three-for-two and managed in the process to buy two exact dupes for polishes I already have. It appears I know what I like and forget what I own. This is...what, dupe number four for OPI hot & spicy that I've accidentally bought? Oops. This tendency also accounts for the number of largely identical pairs of purple high heels I own.

    My nail polish stash hasn't quite gotten big enough for dupes. However, I did buy an Ulta polish that is a close match for Jade is the New Black. I love taupes and browns so I think that will end up being my dupey downfall.

    Not nail related, but I always buy the same DVD more than once. I don't even buy that many DVD's, I just see something and think "ooh I haven't seen that", buy it, go home and put it in the DVD drawer where sure enough there's one already there waiting to be watched...I think I had three copies the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at one point!

    I can't help buying the same top over and over. Scoop neck cotton lycra. Any sleeve length. Seems to be all I ever wear. I look with suspicion on any kind of detailing or prints...
    I also have a ridiculous habit of buying nail polish dupes on the same day. I guess I get a bee in my bonnet about the colour that I am after and just keep buying it.

    I just put on Gigabyte from the Sally Hansen HD collection (couple of years ago). Figured it would be a nice color for interviews and such...looks completely horrible with my pale skin color.

    I think the nail color doesn't work on you because of the same reason. It looks pretty in the bottle, but on certain skin colors, it probably washes the skin coloring out like Gigabyte does to me.

    Blues and shatters..I just ordered a bunch of blues in the Zoya exchange and ordered Dorthy Who? too..Shatters are another downfall..I'd rather pay the scalpers on Ebay for the silver shatter than try to track it down in my local Ulta "around the 8th" (as they told me this morning). I even bought the shaters I do have off of Amazon b/c I was unable to find them in my local stores.

    I hate when I buy dupes. I was looking for a polish last night when I discovered I bought two of the same Illamasqua polish. I'm to tired to think which one right now. Brain dead from lack of sleep and royal wedding! I also want to throw up when I find I've bought dupes. I don't even want to put all my greens together to see if I have dupes of them. I shudder to think of how many minty greens I have. Yet I still buy them. Thanks!

    I tend to buy DVDs that I already have... occasionally books as well. My collection seems to still be small enough that I do not often buy dupes of polish, but I do have quite a few similar shades of pink from when I was looking for "the perfect one" :)

    I can't stop buying mint green polishes. I have at least six or seven dupes, but I can't get rid of them, no way! :) I also can't stop buying different beer cans, since I collect them for 7 years and my whole room is full of them. I guess this doesn't belong here, but I had to say it...
