Blank Canvas - OPI Alpine Snow

I just went through a lot of upheaval in my life. I did something I've done more times than I can count, but somehow I forgot how painful it was - I MOVED.

My body is covered in bruises from building things. My nails are *extremely* battered, and I haven't worn make-up properly in 2 weeks. So now, on my first day back in the "real world" of non-sweaty grown-ups, I needed...*needed*... to do a mani.

I chose OPI Alpine Snow - a blank canvas to start this new chapter in my life. Check it out in front of my new green lawn!

I'm not typically one to go to a stark white mani, but wow, am I loving this!! It feels so fresh and clean for summer, and looks fab with my white ceramic Swatch watch. (However, it does make me want a Michael Kors white watch...the one with gold and the polyurethane band...yes, I definitely have a watch problem.)

It's scary to have such a big change in your life. Even though my job, and even my general location, hasn't changed, it feels like my whole life is kind of up in the air now. I've moved a gazillion times in my life, but I've never been good at it. Hopefully this blank canvas will allow me to see the opportunities of my new situation as opposed to the obstacles.

Any of you doing any blank canvas or cleansing manis lately? Why did you need to clean the slate and what did you use?

  1. I know how you feel . I just moved in April & my nails were horrible. But Alpine Snow is the perfect opaque white .

  2. I just helped my aunt move across town. It was stressful already but it's been compounded by some family problems. It was pretty stressful and I didn't use any specific "blank canvas" manis but painting my nails did make me feel a lot calmer. There's something serene about white nails, isn't there? I hope you feel better soon.

  3. I'm mid-move right now, actually, about to start a new job and a new life in a new state. I don't think I own a stark white polish, but I really like the idea of a fresh start mani. Maybe I'll pick one up. It would look cute with the black and white flower sally hansen polish decals as a pedi. That box has been in my untried pile for ages!

  4. fresh and clean.. my thoughts exactly. I'm dreading my upcoming move, but luckily my nails will be spared because I have enough muscle helping out to keep me from moving anything too big! lol

  5. There is no way in hells I would be able to pull off a white mani. I looks beautiful on you!

Totally identify with the need to do a many sometimes. What a nice way to relax.

  6. I totally understand how moving shakes you up to your foundation! I am a compulsive neat freak so moving usually results in 1) Me doing EVERYTHING (packing, cleaning old place, unpacking, decorating, cleaning new place) until I can't take enough Ibuprofen and/or whiskey to soothe my aching back OR 2) Me being anxious and compulsively stressed because I can't do it all at once.

I've been on a palate cleanser kick too...It started when I absentmindedly used too many coats of OPI Ridgefiller and liked the results- it was creamy and squishy and a beautiful candlelight white. So I went to CVS and bought the closest *real* polish to the OPI Ridgefiller and now I'm wearing Essie Limo-Scene :)

  9. That polish looks great on you! Good Luck with the move! If I had a fresh start manicure it would probably be a holo. I agree with a traveler! Rainbows cheer me up too. I like the idea of a stark white manicure though.

  11. Am also feeling the need to wear white, black and very light grays + nudes these days. So fresh and clean, I love it, although I do find that Alpine snow is thick and tricky to apply without getting *bald* patches.

  13. I hope you've found your last place to move. I understand how stressful moving is. So much stuff that you don't know why you ever bought. I'd love to move somewhere else but I just can't find any other apartments the same size, price and with a washer & dryer. I'd hate the thought of moving. Your nails look wonderful. I finally am starting to like white nails. Good luck in your new venture.
