Ciate Paparazzi is one of the English polishes ilexica sent me.
It's a vampy the exact red-brown colour of blood, somewhere between a creme and a jelly. Perfect
in 3 coats, very shiny finish. This is with Seche Vite on top:
I really wasn't expecting to like this one so much - in the bottle it
looks murky and boring, but on the nail it's clearly dark red and not
black. One of my pet hates is when a dark polish needs so many coats to
destreak that it just looks black on the nail... what was the point of that?? Huh??
This really does
look the colour of a blood bag. The only real complaint I have is that
if you get it on the cuticle and don't clean up properly, it makes your
nails look inflamed. My left hand looks ok, but... my poor, poor right
hand. >.<
I really love the Ciate bottles - it's the perfect shape and
size to grip between my knees, which is my preferred polishing
position! Sitting on ground in front of my computer (which is on a
coffee table), knees up, bottle between knees, fingers on knee. Which
brings me to something I've always been curious about - how do you
polish? Where do you place your hands and polish bottle?
Pretty color! I polish at my desk, setting the polish bottle on the top and holding my fingers on the edge of the desk one at a time (thumbs last).
ReplyDeletei love this shade, don't own any Ciate bottles yet, this might become my first :)
ReplyDeleteI polish my fingers sitting on my couch in front of a little fold-able table... i hold my hand in the air bend my fingers and try to keep it very still :)
I've seen a few colours like this and I've really been dying for something like this. Picture Polish also has a dark red-brown vampy jelly. But maybe I'll try this.
ReplyDeleteI do everything at my kitchen table, work, eat and paint my nails...but not always at the same time ;) I have my polish bottle sitting on the table, my hand flat on the table and I work pinky to thumb. When I do my thumb I have to put it on the edge of the table. And I usually have an episode of Big Bang Theory playing on my laptop. I'm working through season 3 right now :D
I'm usually in bed with my laptop, I hold my hand on the laptop, by the mouse pad, and put the bottle on the other side. I work pinky to thumb on my left hand and thumb to pinky on my right.
ReplyDeleteCrazy pretty, I love the glossiness
ReplyDeletePerfection <3 I polish my nails sitting behind a table, i'm boring :)
ReplyDeleteUsually sitting on the couch, hands o a folding tray. I spread my hand on the tray and hold the bottle between the thumb and index finger of the hand being painted. It's a good question to ask! Loving the answers so far.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, I hate it when dark polishes just look black too.
ReplyDeleteI love this colour! I have a similar one from Brazil but you need a gazillion shades to cover evenly.
ReplyDeleteI paint my nails in the exact same position as you just described! Bottle between knees and everything! I'm glad I'm not alone... :P
Pretty colour- nice that it doesn't look black. As for favourite polishing positions, it always goes one of two ways for me: sitting cross legged on the couch with my laptop across my knees as a surface for polishing, or sitting at the kitchen table with my palms flat on the table and fingers slightly angled up as I polish. Fun question! :D Loving reading all the comments.
ReplyDeleteAt my desk, with one of those clear plastic cutting mats to protect the oak from my occasional clumsiness. I hold my hand on the mat with the right thumb pointing at 10 o'clock or the left at 2. I have a very pronounced C curve, need to be able to roll to see both sides or I miss a big strip on the outside.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this color. But the closest thing I have ChG's Evening Seduction which is a red violet rather than red brown (although that's hard to tell at three coats)and definitely not as crelly-ish. I don't have top coat on my swatchsicles though.
I'm going to miss the warmth of summer but I am so ready to go back to my vampies and dark shimmers.
Fun question!
ReplyDeleteI sit on the floor with the bottle of polish on a coffee table near me. One knee is on the ground (as if I was sitting crossed-leg) and one knee is up. When I paint my right hand my right knee is up and I lay my hand down on it. When I paint my left hand I do the opposite.
