 | ilexica I'm working on a PhD thesis in political economy over on the other side of the pond, in the UK. All of the urban myths about how much it rains in England? Not myths! Perhaps my obsession with bright, sunny polishes stems from a need to inject some colour into grey days. I dig a good green or blue creme but I also have a rather large collection of spicy shades. Provided I can tear myself away from manicuring long enough to do some typing, I'm hoping to submit early 2013, before the Eurozone goes up in smoke and I have to rewrite all of my now-redundant chapters. Unless the Mayans were right, of course, about 2012 being the year of the apocalypse - but at least then I won't have to worry about postdoc applications. When not doing either of the above, I mostly spend my days vacuuming up after a small army of maine coon cats and playing RPG computer games. You can find me on MUA under the same name. |
 | kittytokaren I'm currently still in the lab trenches as a PhD candidate in Genetics and Molecular Biology. After I escape, I'm not sure what I'm going to do - besides not benchwork! To make some extra money on my wimpy grad student salary, I work as a commission artist, so my love of colour runs deep. I truly believe that colour can alter your mood, and nail polish is colour you carry around with you 24/7! (Yes, I spell 'colour' with a 'u' - I grew up in Europe.) | Lab Muffin I'm in my final year of a synthetic organic chemistry PhD (i.e. I make drugs - don't ask me how to make meth, just watch Breaking Bad mmmk?). My blogging started when my boyfriend got sick of me asking for feedback on nails (like, twice). I love nail art: stamping, tape, freehand, dotting, marbling, layering - I'm all over it! Duo- and multichromes are my favourites, but any SFX will do...or any cheap, two-coater ulta3 creme. Mmm. When I'm not painting my nails or labbing about, I'm usually dancing like a maniac in an attempt to get my long-neglected body up to scratch after years of nerdery and study snacking.  | minnie I'm a law student that loves nail polish -- I love nail polish almost as much as I love food! I'm always up for an opportunity to eat and try new cuisines. But back to nail polish... I first started out as picky with which colors I would collect... until I ran across Scrangie's blog. And then went I into a COLLECT ALL THE POLISH mode for a bit but now that I've started school, I'm back to being more judicious about my purchases. Which is more than fine seeing as my collection teeters over 2000! My flavor of the year is glitters so you'll be seeing that from me :) I love domestic polishes but also international ones, if I can get my hands on them. I'm also always trying to convert people to nailpolishism :D Sometimes all it takes is the introduction to fast dry topcoat! |
| mKat I’m a Gemini (if you’re into such things!) so my interests are pretty varied and tend never to stay in the same place for too long. While I love polish (and makeup!), I’m also a huge fan of video games and am as happy in front of my 360 or PS3 as I am while playing with my polishes. In my academic life I am in pursuit of a PhD in Environmental Studies (if anybody cares, I hate carbon offsets) and am still naïve enough to hope that one day I might be able to change the world. Amongst the PoP bloggers I’m the one most likely to be doing some sort of bizarre nail art… I love Konad, rhinestones and all things outlandish. I’m pretty shy IRL so I let my love of colour say the things I won’t. ;) |  |
| Piff I graduated from law school and business school a short while ago. I'm starting to have an inkling of what I want to do with my life, but for the time being it seems too pie-in-the-sky. So for now, I am currently working a j-o-b in NYC that pays for the apartment and the student loans but isn't exactly what I want. When I get home at night, nail polish is like my meditation. Though shimmers and glitters dazzle me, and jellies make me giddy, I am a creme queen for life. My favorite polish color is definitely purple, but the turquoises and teals are starting to dominate, and nudes really strike my fancy. You can often find me on Makeupalley's Nail Board. |  |
