OPI Hollywood Blonde - A Lil Glitz & Glam!

I got a package in the mail the other day that really lifted my spirits - it contained OPI Hollywood Blonde! This is a polish I've been wanting for a long time - so much so that a friend of mine even said, "You finally got it!? The long-awaited much-sought-after Hollywood Blonde?!" A very kind NB'er send her to me (shout-out: thank you so much my friend!) and I have to say - she even exceeds my expectations - it was very worth the wait! I had to wait for some sun to take a picture, because that is when this polish really comes alive:

Yeah...I barely even know what to say other than this is glitzy perfection.

OPI does these 'crystal' finish polishes like no other. It's too sparkly to be a shimmer, but isn't a glitter and doesn't feel gritty - its just mega-shimmer from about 10 polishes all jam-packed into one little bottle! OPI has done a bunch of these in different shades. (Sidebar: To name a few - Pinker: Pink Before You Leap, Princesses Rule!; Whiter: Happy Anniversary; Warmer: Cozu-melted in the Sun, Up Front & Personal, Peach A Boo.)

I've had my eye on this one because it seemed like a perfect nude shade with a small dash of pink. Personally, I think its make the super-girly crystal finish a little more updated, a little more elegant, and less like the Barbie polishes of early childhood. The shimmer is hard to describe - in some lights its multi-colored, in some lights more silver, in some lights more gold - it's just a delicious sugary bomb! I did 3 coats because I really wanted to up the glam factor. You still get VNL at 3 coats because this is a sheer polish, and that's just fine with me - that's the kind of polish it is and I'm going to let it be that.

I have a feeling that this has just become my go-to polish for when I'm in a crappy mood - I grin a little just looking at it - especially in the sun. Sometimes I need to sprinkle a little sparkle onto my life and since I'm not a holo/glitter-girl, this is definitely the way I want to go! As one of our readers would say - "it's the business".

What do you think? Have you tried any of the OPI 'crystal polishes'? Is the sparkle over-done?
Does it make me look like a 5 year-old?

I don't think I have tried any of these polishes, myself. It definitely isn't too "girly/immature", though. The nude color keeps it sophisticated. I think we feel the same way about sparkles. I think they are objectively very pretty, but when I put them on I feel like I'm in junior high again, so I try to stick to cremes or shimmers.

For example, when I saw the combo that CND is pushing for spring, that cotton candy pink polish with the sugar sparkle on top, I was kind of shocked. It just seemed SO unsophisticated. I can do baby pink, and I can do sparkle... but a baby pink sparkle? Just too Barbie for me.

Ohhh, it's not overdone at all. This looks gorgeous. I'm a pretty big fan of Princesses Rule. I remember when I got it I couldn't wait to try it and it didn't disappoint, even though I don't like pink very much.

This makes me want it again, it looks really gorgeous on you. I have & love both Up Front & Personal and Princesses Rule so I feel kinda "gotta catch 'em all" towards Hollywood Blonde lol, no but I really feel I would like it.

And those two I have are my crappy mood polishes just like you said - the application is impossible to mess up and they are just so cute and sparkly.

This looks great on you! I haven't been a huge fan of the sheer sparkles like this unless I am layering it over something else, but I think you may change my mind!

@Grace - You and I definitely seem to have the same taste in polish!! I bet if we had a stash party it'd be awesome. You said it perfectly - objectively I like all the sparklies - I love seeing pictures of them on other people, but it just feels wrong on me!

@Stephanie - Glad to hear you don't think its overdone!! I love how OPI has done these finishes - even though I think it might be too much for me, I'd love to try PR!

@Anna - I think you have two great ones in the spectrum - one pink, one bronzey! Honestly this is the only one of these crystal polishes I own, and will probably always be my fav, but I would love having more in my collection - can't have enough things that make you happy when you feel bad!!

@R3 - Hey girl! I go through phases - sometimes I'll only want to wear cremes, sometimes I like sheers! I highly recommend this one ;) Try it, I bet you'll like it!

@Skulda - Thanks!

@Jean - Keep at it, it was seriously worth the wait!

Oh, if you love this one, you must have Up Front & Personal. It's my go-to color when work requires professionalism and my mood requires pizzaz! I also use the three coat system with this polish. Looks great on you, now I must find and purchase a little bit of Hollywood!

@Braegan - Up Front & Personal looks like it might be too warm for me?? I do like that it has more colour to it...hmm....*plots*

@WizardsofBling - Thank you!! I don't have PR but since its the same finish as this one I say hunt it down with a vengeance!

That is gorgeous. Now I waaaant it.

I love Princesses Rule! and I am personally of the opinion that a girl can't have too much sparkle. :D

Oh that is puuurrrrty. Inspired me to put on Pure Ice's Nasty Girl, which is the closest thing I have to the OPI crystallized finish. (It's a pale whiteish pink.) I've waffled on Hollywood Blonde and Princess Rule before, but they're def. going in my next haul. Maybe Happy Anniversary too!

@Ice Queen - Some days there is never enough sparkle!!

@Glitterati - Yay I'm glad I inspired you to put on some sparkle! :) I'm contemplating Happy Anniversary myself...

For those craving OPI "crystal polishes" but can't find them, Zoya's Shimmer, Glimmer, and Sparkle (those are their names) are great dupes that quenched my OPI lemmings. I got them in Zoya's Sparkle Manicure set.
