Adoree Salmon Stream over OPI and Apple Pie
Orange-pink-gold-bronze duochrome (two coats over OPI and Apple Pie). Alas, it looks better in the bottle than on the nail but I still think it's pretty. I am woefully behind on my Adoree swatches (this was sent to me for review). And this is an example of that which plagues my desire to freshen manis up after a day of wear: I can never find a good topcoat that will dry the sucker and then end up with creases and dents and all sorts of ugly. :( The hell? My usual topcoats that work well with the first polish application don't work. And none of the other ones work for me either. Am I just cursed?

Wow, I can honestly say that "OPI and apple pie" is one OPI color I do not like..wow! But the Adoree polish over the OPI is very pretty!
When you put on the "refresh" polish, have you cleaned the nails to remove any oils or lotion? That probably is the first thing you did, but it is the only thing I could think of to explain your problem. Or perhaps it is the chemical interaction b/t the polishes/top coats? If you really want to get into it, you could set up trials of polish & TC to single out the problem product. Then again, that may take the fun out of this hobby (obsession). I just hope that this comment made some sort of sense as I have a head cold and am having a hard time thinking, let alone forming coherent sentences.
Funny coincidence. I was in a CVS this morning and I saw a dusty bin of polishes shoved on top on an endcap, so of course I snatched it down and it was full of OPI polishes... which is strange since CVS does not carry OPI (at least none of the ones in my area do). Right on top were two, badly separated bottles of OPI and Apple Pie (which I mistook for Ginger Bells until I read the label) and I almost bought one except they were selling for.... 8.50! Uh, really? I don't see them unloading those dusty bottles any time soon.
Flint - I get no problems from refreshing w/ David.
Hm... I don't refresh often, but the few times I can recall, I think I used Essie Good To Go with no problems? I may have even done this using Poshe.
@Grace..the CVS in my ares (LA, California) do sell OPI, but never the new lines, just a limited selection of the regular colors...but NEVER on sale...they a re always $8.50
@Jackie: Yeah, I was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt... but yeah, kinda ugly.
@Deborah: LOL, that's a good scientific way of doing it but I think that may be too much work for me right now. I'll try cleaning my nails of oils and such next time though. :)
@grace: I can't believe people actually pay that much for OPI!
@Piff: Urgh, David never dries on me for a lot of my polishes. I use it on polishes that I know are quick drying, like Dior or glitters...
@Glitterati: Hmm, I've never tried the Essie topcoat. I'm a little anti-Essie at the moment since they made TD raise their prices! :(
