As a present to myself for passing quals, I decided to get a polish I was really really really lemming. I'd be ogling Dior Gold Nugget on Piff for quite some time now and decided that this was basically the only occasion where I'd allow myself to go for it!
It's here and you know what....I'm not sure. :(
Here is Dior Gold Nugget in the pseudo-sun:
And in the shade/dark:
Gold Nugget is definitely what I would call an 'antique gold'. It looks burnished, but not warm. To me it kind of looks like how champagne tastes (I'm officially losing it...) even though I love champagne but I'm just not sure of this on me. It definitely isn't that 'boom in your face!' sparkly metallic like OPI DS Glow - there is something really classy about this one. I've been really in love with metallics this season, but with OPI Dazzled by Gold on its way to me, I'm wondering if this was really worth the splurge.
I think one thing that is making me waver is that I expected awesome application with this one...and didn't get it. I've heard tons of people rave about the Dior formula and to me it was kinda thick (even though my bottle was brand new) and had a ton of cuticle drag. I am also having a bit of shrinkage (see my ring finger in the sun pic??) which is annoying.
I need to make a decision on whether or not to keep this guy! I think as I wear this throughout the day I'll figure out how I feel...but I'd appreciate some outside input!
So please please please tell me what you think...this puppy might just end up in my SALE. ;)

I think it's really pretty!
It's perfectly presentable but it needs to be at a different level (for you, not for me) before it truly makes the grade. And it hasn't apparently. That's the trouble with expensive polishes. They need to look good AND do the dishes AND sing your favourite song.
I like it. It looks very similar to Bling Dynasty, actually, which I have but have yet to wear. I almost always do a little skittles-style swatch before I decide on a polish for a full mani, since I only change my nails once or twice a week. I grab a few polishes out of my stash and do one on each finger and then pick whichever one is jumping out at me and do a full mani/pedi. I keep including Bling Dynasty in that initial round, but so far it hasn't won out. Maybe your pics will inspire me to finally give it a shot. Who knows? I actually bought a holo polish last week (largely inspired by your DS Diamond post), so I must be feeling pretty brave.
I'm not loving it either. IMO, if you're fair and cool toned, gold isn't the way to go. Having said that, take a look at $OPI Queen of Everything. It's an odd mix of gold, silver, and pewter. I really like it, though I admit I bought it mostly for the name. :D The application's not too bad, either, as far as I can remember.
I like it. I think it looks really pretty on you.
@KarenD - thanks friend!
@jaljen - exactly. I think I expected a little more from this. The myth got so built up in my head. :(
@Grace - Ahhhh so glad you tried a holo with me!! We are both tip-toeing out into uncharted waters together! I like DS Diamond because its a subtle holo....I'd be so curious to see bling dynasty on you. I feel like its a much warmer gold than this.
@Apriltini - I think you hit the nail on the head! Bronzes seem to work on me for some reason but this gold is too...green? I dunno...I am getting Dazzled by Gold in the mail and I think that might work for me. We shall see!
@Darlene - Thank you so much my friend! :)

I'm pleased you fulfilled your lemming! Sorry you are not 100% sure about it. It's so disappointing when that happens with a high-end polish.
However, I think it looks really pretty on you, I love your nail length - looks great with this colour.
@Alison - Bleh yeah I actually think I am going to let it go...either by swapping/selling whatever, but in the swap box it goes! And thanks I like this nail length as well - I always feel like I can wear more colours when I have nubbins, but my nails grow quite quickly so its hard to keep up without very regular filing!
