Congrats to M&O: OPI DS Diamond

My best friend is getting married on Friday!!! We (the bridesmaids) have to drive up today to be there in time for the tree planting ceremony tomorrow morning, and I thought an appropriate polish would be OPI DS Diamond. Unfortunately, it is super overcast and there is not a photon of natural light to be found, so you're getting a crappy indoor pic:

OPI DS Diamond is another from the Designer Series. I really like this one because its a grey-ish lavender colour with mild holo. I still find holos kind of nauseating, but this one isn't a super holo and I quite like it! Especially in overcast light, it just comes off as a gorgeous shimmer. The application on these DS polishes is just amazing as well and I think that's why I keep going back for more!

For the wedding itself, I'm going to have to remove this lovely polish and put on the "wedding polish" which is OPI Pink Before You Leap (1 coat). She initially wanted something lavender-taupe-y (awesome!) but the salon didn't have anything like that so she went for something sheer and bridal-ly. I have it on my toes right now and I'm not lovin' it, but maybe I'll like it on my fingers better? Either way I'm not going to complain - not my wedding!

What colour did you wear/are planning to wear for your wedding?? If I get the Vegas wedding I want, I'm wearing RBL Mismas, but if DBF (aka Bridezilla) gets the wedding he wants, I'll probably go with an Essie sheer.

So congratulations to M & O!!! May you have many happy years together, and may I be the fun aunt to your future children who spoils them completely rotten. :)

I didn't wear polish any of the times I got married. You find holos nauseating - that's quite an unusual reaction.

I did french manicures for my wedding, but had I known about DS at that point it would have been one of those instead, probably DS Classic in gold.

I wore Essie It's in the Bag at my wedding, and my bridesmaids wore whatever they wanted - I think two had pale/sheer pink pedis and one had a dark wine color. I just picked the dress and shoes (navy blue tea-length dresses, soft gold strappy sandals) and said they could do whatever they liked with hair, nails, makeup and jewelry. It just made everybody's life so much easier.

I plan on getting Shellac or OPI Axxium done for my wedding this summer. My colors for the wedding are cherry red and aqua. So I'm leaning to a shade of red for my nails.

1 coat? The name sounds kinda sheer so that sounds kinda...well you said it. How can you not like holos?!

Not sure if you'll see this, since this post is a few days old now, but if you have access to Prevail nail polish you should definitely pick some up (the brand, not the Nubar color). I think it's a new line and it might only be available at Duane Reade stores, but they have a few that look very similar to the DS polishes. I bought one last week that seems to be a dead-on dupe for this polish and I want to head back for more! I'm always interested when I see a new brand and I combed over the display so many times trying to figure out which color to try. They have a lot of great shades, but my collection is getting so big that it's tough to find something I'm sure I won't have a dupe of at home. I'm not big into holos, either, but the color on this one is so delicate that I don't feel ridiculous in it. I think I'll try one of their foils next...
