Lemming Fulfilled! - Chanel Kaleidoscope

Since Dior Gold Nugget didn't turn out to be the prize I thought it was going to be, I decided that I needed to get something I really loved as my present to myself for passing qualifying exams. I want to be able to have a polish that reminds me that I overcame this giant obstacle and that I can push through this whole PhD experience! If you've read my posts, you know that Chanel Kaleidoscope has always been a big lemming of mine. Since I splashed out and went crazy with Gold Nugget, and still haven't found it a new home, I wanted to go a little more conservative for my next 'big spend'. I got lucky and scored Kaleidoscope on the bay of all things evil for what would have amounted to MSRP + tax!!

And this one didn't disappoint...

In the shade:

In the sunlight:

Gorgeous eh? And this is after several days of wear...

I hit the jackpot on this one. The only word I can use to describe this is just "special". On me it tends to pull quite silver/pewter, but it does gleam burnished gold and even green in certain lights - not being a straight, heavy, silver gives it a lot of dimension and depth - plus I think it goes better with my skin tone that way! Kaleidoscope has the potential to be very brushstroke-prone, but what saves it from this horrible fate is the amount of superfine shimmer absolutely loaded into the polish. In the shade it looks like a surprisingly smooth metallic, but in the sun the shimmer just explodes - much more than anyone has been able to capture on camera that I've seen.

This polish just needs to be seen to be believed! I should have gone with Kaleidoscope the first time when picking out my reward - but I'm glad I got it right on round 2. I'm going to pull this out when things get tough and I feel like I can't go on - it will remind me that I can!

If you were to splurge on one polish right now, what would it be?? What would you love to own in your wildest dreams?

Ohh I would splurge on ANY chanel if I could, I want to see what the hype is all about, but I can't bring myself to spend that much!!!

This looks like you've put molten silver on your nails. I love it.

This is really gorgeous on you. I love the sun shot, it shows the variety of color in the polish. Pretty!
I haven't found "the one" I'd spend all my savings on...but I would love to own the entire line of Cheeky Monkey polish. The formula is amazing.

Wow. Just wow. It's awesomeness in a bottle.

Splurge on one polish? Milani Hot Metal (make it two and let me get Molten Rock, too, please?)(and Fairy Tale too!).

Before anyone says that doesn't seem like much of a splurge...CVS doesn't do business in my state. The nearest one is about 6 hours away.

The only place Milani is carried in my state is select Walgreens (not all of them, just a very few) and they almost never get in any of the seasonal/limited selections. They don't always carry the complete core line. (Nope, Target doesn't have Milani here either.)

So finding Milani anything either means a road trip, or searching online and paying a premium plus shipping. When we visit my inlaws, whose Targets and CVS stores are loaded with Milani goodies, I stock up.

I'm not actually hunting this down right now because between the Zoya exchange and making a huge haul at Dollar Tree of LA Colors and Sally Hansen Diamonds polishes, I'm kind of backlogged right now :).

@tasha - I only have a few Chanels but there is something about them that feel so luxurious!

@Rebecca - thank you!

@Lizard - I've never tried Cheeky Monkey - maybe I should! I love great formulas :) (who doesn't!)

@Apriltini - Totally agree!

@Cel - Thank you - I love it too!

@TropicalChrome - Hey price wasn't the question! Something that you lust after that is kind of unattainable totally counts!! Very strange that it is so hard to get a hold of Milani where you are!

W0w!!! I love that colour, I have a similar shade by essence which I love too. It's like a sliver gold. :)

My favorite make up product ever is YSLs Touche Eclat... but with tax its over $50! But, like you said about the Chanel nail polish, it just feels so luxurious and the packaging is stunning... I get it when my student budget allows me to! I guess one day I will have to try a Chanel polish ;)

I guess I'm weird but I was never too impressed with Kaleidoscope. If I were to splurge, it'd be on Zoya nail polishes. So gorgeous...but I don't own a single one yet. :(

@Lolitadewdrop - That sounds really close - I'd describe Kaleidoscope as a silver-gold as well!

@tasha - ooooo I've heard such wonderful things about Touche Eclat! You know there are a lot of sacrifices we have to make on a student budget - but that just makes you prioritize the 'most luxurious luxuries' - we know what's worth it!!

@Ashley A - Have you heard about the Zoya exchange? That would be a way for you to start your Zoya collection :)

Chanel Night Sky! I wanted it soooo bad when I was a teenager, and now it's nigh-impossible to find. Too bad :(

I dunno, I think i wanna splurge on this one, and add it to my collection!

I just did the Zoya collection before I posted, I wish I could own the entire collection, though! :D

@Nina - Ah! Night Sky is truly lust-worthy!!

@Bunny Masseuse - I highly recommend it - it really needs to be seen in real life to understand its beauty and uniqueness!

@Ashley A - Ahhh sorry love I must have misunderstood you! I see you have the Zoya bug now though! Hehe :) Their collection is soo versatile - I think they have the best range of colours/finishes.
