As soon as I heard about OPI Rosy Reflection - a pink metallic foil - I knew I *had* to have it! It was a UK/Asia exclusive and therefore hard to get my hands on. I finally did, and here is the result:
You know how sometimes you want something so badly that it can never possibly live up to expectations? This has happened to me with jobs, men, *grad school*, and yes, even nail polish a couple of times. Rosy Reflection is pretty - don't get me wrong! It is indeed a sparkly, metallic, pink foil - exactly what it was supposed to be. But somehow, we just don't click. I'm not sure why, but some things just aren't meant to be.
Anyone think RR and I can work it out and have a fulfilling relationship, or should I dive back in and look for another fish in the sea?

It's really pretty.
BB Couture Incognito was a polish I was desperate for but it didn't set my pulse racing. These things do happen.
Bleh, I know the feeling. It does look very nice on you, though.
Hm. It's very pretty, but I know the feeling...
It's very pretty and I know that feeling all too well.
It's not you, it's her :) The finish is very modern, but the base color is too "grandma pink". I have done this before, multiple times. Even multiple times WITH THE SAME POLISH!
I love love LOVE OPI Hawaiian Orchid. It looks terrible on me. I bought a bottle years ago, tried it and was so disappointed. I came back to it a couple of times and eventually swapped it away. A few years later, I bought another bottle, determined to try it again and... obviously, it still looks awful on me. I'll still accidentally pick up a bottle when I'm browsing like "ooh, that's pretty, what color is it?", but now I know better and leave it on the rack.
I love the polish, but I get what your saying, I say "dive back in" and resume the search :)
If you don't like, move on. I was dying for FingerPaints' Icy Orchid, and finally swapped for it, only to be disappointed in it. It's a pretty color, just not what I thought it'd be. I've also been on the hunt for the perfect light, sheer, pink, only to be disappointed by shades that are too white, chalky, or streaky. Don't get me started on lilac polishes, either. Can we all say "lobster hands"? *shudder*
@jaljen - Incognito looks really cool in pics! It is true that it happens, but it so bums me out!
@Aurora - Thanks for the compliment and sympathy! :)
@Zara - I think it's happened to all of us at least once, and on some level we should expect it, but it still sucks!
@Vixxan - Sounds like you're experienced with lemming regret!!
@Grace - Ah girlfriend, I knew you'd understand...i like thinking that it's her, not me. I think you're right - its too much of a mauve-pink for me! I've done the same thing with OPI Chapel of Love like 80 times....its so pretty in the bottle. I think I've had three of them and keep swapping them away, then getting them again. We are slaves to our skintone....
@Jackie S - I will indeed dive right back in :) Thanks love!
@Apriltini - I have moved on! I hope it finds a new home with someone who loves it. Are you warm-toned?? I'm cool toned and can't seem to go wrong with lilacs, but I have the hardest time finding a warmer pink that works for me!
k2k
Try it again and if you still don't like it, move on. Sometimes we get so excited about getting the polish that when we put it on, it lets you down because you had a certain image in your mind of what it'll look like. I always give a polish a second chance.
The pink doesn't actually look that warm to me. If it were warm-toned, there'd be gold flecks instead of silver. I'm seeing just pinky/lavender and silver. I think it looks good on your hands (this coming from the vampire pale cool-toned girl. See the photo next to my name for reference).
I can understand...
Though the pink seems to look really nice with your complexion

I'm cool toned, but for some reason the lilacs just look terrible on me. It might just be my perception. Lilacism, Zoya Malia, and a couple others, for example. Blech. Now, give me a bright, rich, dark, or vibrant purple, and I can pull that off with no problems at all. Weird, right?
I feel the same way about Essie's Sag Harbor. I NEEDED it. In real life it looks not so great on fingers
Personally I think it is a beautiful shade. Of course, if it isn't what your heart desires, tuck it back for a day when only light airy colors will do. We all have days like that from time to time. LOL
I love those type of finishes. It't a pretty shade. I buy every metallic foil I see. I haven't found a polish that looked too bad. I'm sure I'll find one eventually.
