A tale of two polishes

Or, how to ruin perfectly good mani. I just cannot leave things alone.

This is Illamasqua Caress, a gorgeous baby blue creme. Easy two-coat application, smooth finish, stunning colour. When they do pastels right, they really do them right, and this is a fabulous example.

I managed to leave it all of two hours before deciding that what was clearly missing was a bumpy, draggy, horrible topcoat to frakk everything up. Lo! What's that I spy? It's Barry M Blue crackle!

I hesitated to show you this one because it was SO AWFUL. I still don't know how it's so bad, but it dragged the base polish everywhere, dented it, didn't crack properly, and was still really bumpy and gritty after two coats of lumos. Some days I really, really hate myself for doing stupid things like this to perfectly lovely polishes. I took it straight off because I was too embarrassed to leave the house with such a revolting manicure...*shame face*

On the plus side, this used up two polishes in my no-buy challenge.

Actually I think it's a very cool combo, at first glance I really liked it.
Furthermore, it's probably the only crackle/shatter manicure I ever liked.
But then again, all the dragging and the dents are a serious bummer.

(doesn't crackle supposed to look all dishevel-ly?)

Looks like it cracked fine to me. The dragging was not very noticeable until I clicked to see big--weird that would happen.

It's a great colour combination, shame about the dragging. It didn't drag when I used it the one time I did, it's my only shatter. I wonder what went wrong? Some days it's just not meant to be with nails I feel! xx

Looks pretty nice to me. I'm a big fan of blue colors and I like textured nail polish results.

I love the colour combination, but the dragging was very bad in the flesh. There were big dents in the base polish - first time that's happened for me with a crackle. I'm guessing I'll have to leave the base overnight next time I use this crackle coat, and then whack with with some seche vite!

What a shame! Caress is a beautiful color and just might be what I've been looking for. All the baby blues I've found have been nightmares to work with.

I like the color combination. The problems with the crackle is a downright shame! I do know what you mean about not leaving a good manicure alone.
