Thumb accent mani: OP JITNB and CG Atlantis

Inspired by kitty2karen I decided to give a thumb accent mani a go. This is OPI Jade is the new black plus China Glaze Atlantis for the thumb accent. I like it, but I don't love it. I was kind of hoping more of the sea green jelly in Atlantis would come through, because this mostly just looks like silver holo glitter on green, and pretty though that is it's not subtle. JITNB looks a lot like Orly Wandering Vine to me (I planned to do comparison swatches before I took the mani off, but this chipped badly within two days so I didn't get a chance). I do like the glitter thumb idea, though, especially since removing only two nails makes me a little less suicidal than doing ten.

Any suggestions for colour schemes?

I have been spying OPI JITNB for some time now. I need to go ahead and get it. Also, I normally do a ring finger accent; I'm going to try the thumb. Nice combo.

I've got JITNB on right now, actually. Wandering vine is darker and not as blue.

I have been wanting JITNB and now I am sure i want it. Atlantis looks like the same color with sparkles. I like the thumb accent!

Love this manicure. I adore greens and this shade is beautiful. I love using a different accent nail. I have an accent nail when one chips!

Atlantis is much prettier when you do multiple coats of it with no base color underneath. Yes it needs topcoat, and yes it's a stone cold beyotch to get off, but it's so pretty. (And yes, not doing all 10 nails is an excellent idea!)

Love the thumb accent (also the ring finger accent). For colour combos I have been crazy about accenting oranges and hot pinks with lippman's boom boom pow. It always looks HOT.

Come to think of it, boom boom pow (or any gold glitter) would look great as an accent over some of the royal and sea blues out this summer...

I did a red and purple accent manicure last week (also inspired by kitty2karen. My accent nail was my ring finger). I used a bright red (an essie) for most of my fingers and pastel purple (China Glaze) for the accent. No glitter, but I liked it!

Thanks Jim, Lucy, Lois. It's a pretty colour I think, can't believe it took me so long to try it.

@ Grace - thanks for the comparison, it means I can justify having both!

@Sandi - this is my first try with atlantis, I will have to give it a proper run soon. Thanks for the advice :)

@ Rose - ooh, that does sound good. Tempted to try it, except that Lippmans are really spendy here (£16.50 I think).

I bought the OPI JITNB myself weeks ago and I haven't tried it yet. I'm not sure why I bought it, well i kinda do. I don't really own any green nail polish so I said to myself why not. Now I see it on your nails I can already tell I'm only using this color around christmas. But I really really like the glitter on the thumb. I'm going to totally have to try that. Right now I have a blue mani with OPI Last Friday Night on my ring finger as an accent and it looks great. If you look at my blog it'll be up in a few days. But I'm definitely going to try moving my accent finger to my thumb the next mani I do.
