China Glaze Some Like it Haute

I have a serious love/hate relationship with this polish. On the one hand: it is really pretty. I love the fact that it looks quite grungy and reserved, with the charcoal and black glitter, but also quite fripperous (is that a word?). This is a very 'me' poilish! On the other hand...bump city! This is seriously the grittiest polish ever. Even after two coats of SV it was still really uneven to the touch. Which annoys me.

Also, because I find it really hard to photograph glitter, here's a blurry outtake where you can actually see the holo.

And one showing what the cat thinks of it.

Haha, love the picture with your cat! The polish is really nice, too. :)

So I have the WnW dupe of this - Diamond in the Rough - as well as some other Eye Candy glitters. I found that Out the Door is the best smoothing top coat out there IMO. It really works on glitters to fill in all the bumps within 2 coats.

Also, this looks great on you.

Very pretty color! Sometimes the downfalls are worth it :)

I love glitters like this, but I don't wear them too often because of the removal process. This one is awesome! I have twinkle lights, wore it at Christmas...pretty sure it had the bumpy thing going for it as well. Your kitty is beautiful...what kind is he/she? Looks a lot like mine who is 1/2 Himalayan!

It's weird because I remember in this Scrangie post she had a totally different experience and didn't find it lumpy...

This looks amazing!!! I know what you mean though. I don't like gritty glitters either.

I have this shade and no photos I have seen to it justice. It looks much better in person. I also did not find it lumpy. Kind of crunchy due to the heavy glitter and the size of particles of glitter. It is one of those that eats top coat. I need to get to Sally's with my 15% off coupon before the end of this month and get 3 more SV toppers and 2 SV toppers in the UV as well...been using my regular polishes with SV UV topper and a UV light from Sally's - not a pro model - and it works GREAT - my mani lasts for more than 2 weeks!

I have a few really gritty glitters too. The best thing I've learned is after the first top coat is dry (and I mean DRY), take the smoothest buffing file or brush you own (I think I use the shine side of my 3 way buffer; I'd have to check for you), and very lightly buff the top (very lightly) and then add a second top coat.

Glitter nail polish is glitter suspended in clear nail polish normally. The reason why it eats top coat is because the top coat is trying to fill the gaps. That's why I buff after the first. I never have noticed a change in the finish or anything because I do it very lightly!

Beautiful polish. I thiiink I have this. I'm just not sure. I hope I do, it's gorgeous. I love reading the responses. Now I've learned a trick to buff after a layer of top coat. Then it won't be so gritty after the second coat. Fantastic!

I just bought this! I'm excited to try it out. It definitely looks like it devours topcoat but it looks amazing so I'll cope with the bumpiness lol

This looks gorgeous but I think the roughness would annoy me :-(

I love this polish, despite the grittiness. And cute cat!

I have the same love/hate relationships with glitter polishes but when they are on my nails I don't regret it.
On the last photo looks like the polish has come to an end or did you catch it? It would be a shame to smash such a beauty

@ Lacquered Lady - Thanks for the tip, I'll have to see if can find it in the UK. The texture really drove me nuts.

@ Sarah - definitely, it's such a cool polish!

@ Sherre - since I started doing tinfoil removal I honestly find it a cinch. Although I try not to wear glitters too often since I am convinced that glitter binging over Christmas last year was the cause of my flaky nails through Jan/Feb. The kitty is a maine coon - although having never heard of Himalayans (apparently they're called colourpoint persians over here, which would explain it) I just spent hallf an hour googling kitten pictures. Ace.

@ Pink Daizeez - Scrangie's post was the main reason I bought it! Doesn't it look awesome on her?

@MariJo - I'm very tactile so grittiness bothers me.

@ Beachgal - agreed, it's much more sparkly and alive in person. Thanks for the good words about UV top coat - I haven't tried UV curing since I had gel nails as a teenager. Might look into it.

@ Katie - that is a really good idea! And thanks for explaining top coats, I didn't know that was the reason. Very interesting.

@ Lucy - indeed, can't wait to try it!

@ Jill - you'll love it, it's really nice.

@ TikiBarbie - thanks, I'll tell her. It'll probably go to her head.

@ MissDoll - the table's not very high up so it was fine! My cats are forever knocking bottles off, so I'm used to finding them in weird places.

@ilexica - Well, I started trying to figure it out when I started getting into glitter polish and I went through two-three top coat bottles. It finally took a memory from my school days involving rocks, sand and a clear tub to figure it out. I felt like a genius because I, for one, am HORRIBLE at science.
