Lovely reader Leisel asked for a side by side comparison of Essie Go Overboard (which I shared with you today) and OPI Ski Teal We Drop! I snapped a quick pic for you guys and I hope you can see the differences/similarities! To my eye, the Essie is lighter and *slightly* more green.
OPI Ski Teal We Drop is on the top, Essie Go Overboard on the bottom.
Hope this helps someone!

Oooh good call! I love seeing comparisons. Helps me get my bearings :)
ReplyDeleteYes? I will do more of them if they are helpful/wanted. It is much easier for me to do it on swatch sticks than on my nails - would you still want to see comps on swatch sticks like this? Let me know!
ReplyDeleteOooh good to know! Thanks for the comparison. Where did you get these swatch sticks?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison. My mind also thought Ski till We Drop was darker. I had lined up all my teals last Sept when it was Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and teal is the color for showing support of awareness. I know that when I wore Ski then it looked almost black/teal in low light. I did do a swatch today to compare to the swatch I put on paper when I tried the Essie at the drugstore and left it there cause I knew I had a lot of teals. It's super close to Sally Hanson Salon Effects (the expensive line for SH ~$8/bottle). Essie is really close to Fairly Teal.
ReplyDeleteAnd YES - a huge YES, love to see you do more comparisons, fingers or swatch sticks is fine! Maybe put the swatch sticks on a white background might help. I am always looking for comparisons...it's a must when your pocket book is tight and also you are running out of storage space and not ready for the big purge of your stash!
ReplyDeleteLove the side by side comparisons. Saves me money! Where do you get the swatch sticks you use? Do you find them more useful than the wheels?
ReplyDelete@Alyssa - eBay! Quite a few sellers have them :) I wrote a post about swatching my whole collection and I list the seller there.
ReplyDelete@beachgal - I don't have that many teals in my collection honestly. (I did wear Ski a lot during Ovarian Cancer Awareness month last year! I think it was you that reminded me about it!) The reason I did the black background for this comp is that with dark colours you see the contrast better on a black background than a white one. (Plus it was night time so I was using artificial light, making it even harder to show the contrast.) I will keep doing comps!
@Malinda - I think I will do more comps for you guys! I got them from eBay - I wrote a post about swatching my whole collection and the seller's name is in there somewhere. I do find these more useful than wheels - I can reorganize my colours more easily (I keep them in colour order, so when I get a new one it can go in between...can't do that with a nail wheel!) and it's nice to figure out what to wear - I pull out which sticks I'm considering and walk around with them for a while!

Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing comparisons, so yes... the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned for that!
And thank you for the tip on the swatchcicles. I'd only seen color wheels before, and I'm a bit obsessive compulsive / perfectionist, so it was driving me nuts that I wanted to re-arrange the order whenever I added a new polish, and that's not really possible on the color wheels (at least not without wasting polish).
thanks so much for the comparisons! i'm always drawn to these shades, but can't figure out which one i want. when seeing essie's teal i also thought of nicole by opi kardashian -khloe had a little lam lam.
