THEME WEEK - My Favourite Red!

I'm proud to announce that for the next 5 glorious weeks, all of the Polish or Perish bloggers will be participating in THEME WEEKS!!! *sound the trumpets*

Starting every Monday for the next 5 weeks, we will launch a brand spankin' new theme week. Each day one PoP blogger will reveal their absolute-number-one-hands-down-favourite-of-all-time-in-the-history-of-ever polish in the THEME WEEK category! Think you know what your fav blogger will pick? This week is...

FAVOURITE RED WEEK

I'm going to kick off Favourite Red Week with a colour that long-time readers will not be surprised by. It took me a long time - and I mean and LOOONNNGGGG time - to find a red that I truly loved and felt worked for me, so I'm super proud to share with you - Essie First Dance...

Isn't she gorgeous? Enough of an orange undertone to flatter my warm-toned skin, but definitely still a classic red - with just enough punch to keep it from going old lady. *preens* What can I say? This is absolute perfection to me. I really should buy a back-up!

A good red is truly hard to find, ladies. What's yours?

Oooh this one is really pretty. I have too many reds but my favorite is Essie Limited Addiction. I have two bottles of that one! I love it so much. :]

Love the idea of theme weeks! Also, I wonder if you guys could all post a bit about what makes a polish flatter; since you're a group (though I know you don't blog from the same locations) with different skin tones, it would be useful to compare a cool toned person's best polish hues with a warm toned person. I'm not even sure how to tell what my skin tone is, or what the undertone of a polish is? Eep!

The best red I've found for my fair pink-toned skin is RGB Too Red. Love.

@Criminal Nails - You're right, I should. I don't have back ups of many things!

@jaigeeksout - Let me know if you try it!

@mich - Ooo that looks like a nice one! I have yet to try a Butter London polish, and I've heard such good things!

@All The Pretty Polish - Limited Addiction is CLASSIC! I love that one too.

@emlocke - I'm so glad you like the theme week idea! Hopefully they will help you a little bit with the skin tone issue so you can see what people with different skin tones prefer. For reference I'm very pale (duh) and very yellow toned. The undertone of First Dance is warm leaning neutral I'd say :)

@Faith J - Big Apple Red is one I hope OPI never discontinues! Such a classic...Thanks for sharing :)

@Niki - Glad you like!

@Kiki's Corner - I'd love to see if you try it out!

@Gosia - Isn't it such a great feeling when you put on a polish and it's *just right*?? So glad you found one you love!

@glittershewrote - That looks very pretty indeed!

@Bethany Taylor - Another classic! PoP readers sure seem to know their stuff! I love how jellyish V&C is...

Good morning. How can't i comment in a post like this? impossible if we're talking about red! Let me praise please CG "Ruby Pumps", OMG, my dream, my polish, my red! it has everything: is cool toned, sparkly glitter, jelly yet pigmented formula, is a cool red but is bright and saturated, i could wear it forever and ever, and is a heaven made match with my favorite red lipstick combination.

I just discovered I like Essie First Dance as well, but I have cool-toned skin. My favorite red polish is very similar to First Dance, and it's Maybelline Express Finish in Racy Red. It's a one coater.

You really hit it off the bat with this one. When this came out last year I thought where have you been all my life long? This indeed is a great red for us with light hair and fair complexions.

Old lady red? Is there really such a thing? ;D You know that I'm a red addict, but my favorite out of the 42 I have (after I give all the pinky/berry reds their own category so the true reds will fit on one of those swatchsicle bolts, can't do orange reds at all 'cept on toes), is an old, OLD (25 years?) Cover Girl Nail Slicks called #520 Classic Red. I hoard my half bottle like a cranky dragon because the only ones you find on search are a reformulated one that isn't quite the same shade. It's an almost jelly creme with just the faintest hint of pearlescence deep in the polish that I can't find anything similar too. It is my perfect red.

Modern reds? WnW Wild Shine's Red Red is close, but lacks the depth that elusive translucence gives my #520. Obviously though, I've managed to find some reds to console me, lol. CND's Wildfire and Zoya's Sooki are good and I love things like Zoya's Delilah, Barrielle's Elle's Spell and ChG's Branding Iron. They didn't have anything like those back in Dark Ages when I started collecting polish, lololol. I'm not allowed to look at reds anymore as they make up nearly 1/3 of my collection already when you add in the berries and burgundies. Christmas collections are a mine field for me. ;o)

K2K - I HAD to buy this polish! I loved it on you, but then became obsessed to own it because I really love red and this one is a beauty! Have it now, thanks for swatching it!
