As the weather gets warmer and warmer (in the Northern Hemisphere), we thought it was only fitting for the final Polish or Perish THEME WEEK to be showcase neons! Each day a PoP blogger will show you their fav retina-searing polish. Get your sunglasses out, kids!
FAVOURITE NEON WEEK
This is polish I usually reserve for my toes (in fact, it's on my tootsies right now!) but in the summer if I'm feeling frisky, I will bust this one out for a mani! In fact, it's the ONLY neon in my collection, and I'm quite attached to it! Essie Perky Purple...
Why yes, I do suck at photographing neons! I had to colour adjust a bit (*cough*somuchit'sridiculous*cough*) to try to get it to show up as it looks in real life, but trust me, it's a screamer! This may not be the only neon I own very soon, because I may be picking up one or two of the new Essie Poppy Razzi neon collection....
Do you wear neons? Just in summer or do you brave it in winter as well?

I took a pass on the Essie neons holding out for the June release of 12 new neons from China Glaze. I have a # of 'em from the last CG neon release of ??? summer 2010??? or was it 09? I am thinking I will wear more range in the neons this summer because this last yr I really embarrassed more colors that never were 'my colors' I gravitated to. And I agree - it's not you, it's the cameras when it comes to trying to photo neons. Most all of the digital just cannot manage neon feedback.

I tend to ALWAYS put a clear topper on my neons - I like them bright AND shinny both. Not into the matte neon look.
Oh - and I too have been loving the theme weeks - dream up more of 'em. They are tons of fun.
I looooooove the new Essie neon (yes, I bought the whole collection)! Apply very well and u can have two different looks with one polish - as u can wear it alone or layer it over a cream white for a pop of colour. I'm sure u would love them.

Great color! I love wearing neons - especially in the summer. I think they look better with a tan.
@Rebecca - Well, I have to say, we've had a lot of positive feedback from these theme weeks so you will probably see more in the future! I've had a ton of fun seeing what people pick too :)
@Stephanie - Gahhhh Camera is the one I picked up! I haven't tried it out yet though! So glad you're liking the theme weeks :)
@beachgal - Ugh yes neon is so hard to photograph. I did my best. I think the topcoat is key with neons too! Any suggestions for theme weeks?? Hmm maybe we should do a reader poll?
@Cathy Lee - Thanks for the tip!! I just got Camera and have yet to try it. I'll definitely be putting the white under it like you suggest. Sounds like we need more theme weeks...
@TikiBarbie - I agree. Too bad I never have what normal people call a "tan"! Lol!

I've been addicted to Essie 'Knockout Pout', which is a neon pink and Sinful Colors 'Summer Peach' which is a traffic cone orange! I love the neon tend...and I'm def going to pick up Essie Perky Purple :)
This is very pretty on you - a perfect summer mani. I love when you go outside your polish-comfort zone!
I saw the Essie neons at Target a few weeks ago, but when I went back for them later, they were already gone and replaced by the "Bikini whatever" collection. I can't find them anywhere and it seems my trusted Ricky's NYC has stopped carrying the brand altogether (!?). I was able to order the coral one from Transdesign (the only one still in stock!) so I can't wait for it to show up. It will be my first true neon.
I don't own many neons either and tend to reach for the more subdued neons (if that makes any sense) if "I'm feeling a bit frisky" as you say! One of my preferred ones is Hally Hansen's A Peach of Cake (complete salon manicure line). It's gorgeous, I have it on now and was about to post about it tonight. I think you wwould like it.
@Dye-A-Graham - I think I have a mini of Knockout Pout somewhere - I'm going to have to dig that out! I also think the neon trend is fun for summer :) Not my normal style, but I like it!
@Grace - Definitely outside of my comfort zone! But in a fun way that I'm oddly comfortable with if that makes any sense? I have no interest in the Bikini Whatever collection - there are zero that I want.....odd...Let me know how you like the neons!
