Playfully Purple - Essie Play Date

I love the colour purple. Oddly enough though, I don't own or like many purple polishes! I wear purple clothes all the time, but someone on my nails it's not my jam. I surprised myself by getting a summery purple craving so I ran to CVS and picked this little guy up - Essie Play Date:

I think it's a fun, punchy colour for summer that is a nice change from coral or hot pink! I liked it even better on my toes - I've worn it twice as a pedi so far this summer. Play Date is an adorable name and I think an equally adorable polish.

Are you purple polish person? Any recommendations for me?

Purple is probably the most crowded drawer of my helmer! Lavenders and pastels can be tough on my super yellow skin, though. OPI Pamplona Purple is one of my favorites. Orly Wild Wisteria is also great (similar to sapphire in the snow). China Glaze Grape Pop (similar to OPI Funky Dunky) is my favorite "crayon purple" for summer.

I love purple too! Maybe we were members of royalty in a former life, since it is the color of royalty! I have lots of purples, but not this one, believe it or not. I think I just didn't want to be redundant. But this does look gorgeous on you!

I agree! This purple is a HUGE hit with me. It's not got that icky chalky white base that a lot of them have (esp Essie). It's not too light, not too dark - just the perfect Goldilocks purple in my book. I fell for it in the bottle but have learned not to live by looks (again esp from Essie)...but once I got it on (my toes first)...I was in love. Funny too - some how I ended up with an extra bottle of it and did not realize I had a bottle already - I think it had to have been before I tired it - I picked one up at the drug store and probably ordered one cheaper on line. I just ran into my extra bottle this last week when I was looking for a ton of other polishes that seemed to be missing. I NEED to start that data base I keep saying I am going to make of all my dups that I do have separated out - however like this one, I run into an occasional dup that is in with my other stash now and again. I need to do a search in my database to rule out dups there. So glad you found this purple and like with me it's a hit for you too. I have a couple purples in this range from OPI and China Glaze - but none have the same saturation of color or something Play Date has. I just love it - hope they add it to their regular line.

I like it. I'm definitely a purple girl! In fact, I loathe pink so much that I don't own any myself...if I wear it for a breast cancer event/month, I borrow a pink from my little sister....here are the purples I own and love: Sephora by OPI in Just a Little Dangerous, Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Lavender Sky, Sally Hansen Color Fast in Thunderbolt Frost, China Glaze in Coconut Kiss, China Glaze in Reggae to Riches, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Purple Pulse, and Finger Paints in Purple Palette.

This is my FAVORITE color this year! I have yet to try it on my toes, but after you said it, I think I will try it tonight!

Looks beautiful on you. Re purple: I hear you, I seem to have similar issues. I had countless purples that I tried, was all meh and passed them on. Then I splurged on RBL Mismas and was sold.

Uh, oh how could I forget RBL Scrangie and Essie Sexy Divide???? Another 2 I absolutely cannot live without ;-)

I loooooove purple too! I strongly recommend Lippmann Call Me Irresponisble. Though it might take 3-4 coats to achieve the bottle colour, it's the best purple jelly polish out there! Both the formula and dry time is good too.

I wan't a purple person until a short while ago. Curiously, I started buying purple polishes and discovered new favourites: OPI's Funky Dunky, A grape fit & Planks a lot.
I haven't tried Play Date yet but really like it. Very vibrant
