OPI GoldenEye

OK, I have to confess...the nerdy fangirl in me really wanted the OPI Bond polishes. But especially this one. I remember going to see it with my mum at the cinema at the age of nine and bonding (sorry) with her over our shared appreciation for Pierce Brosnan. My now-boyfriend also helped work on the N64 computer game as a games tester when he was a teenager (he's older than me, before anyone does the maths and starts wondering!). So it had a pretty special place in my heart!

In the bottle, this one really grabs me. It's so glimmery and sparkly and it looks as though there are an awful lot more colours in there than there are. It catches the light beautifully. On the nail, it *is* sparkly and gorgeous, with a strange colour-shifting personality and a fleck that seems to be half-way between glitter and flakes. It's more yellow-gold than it appears here (Autumn light to blame), but there is a slight bronzey undertone in certain lights.

However, it is a bit sheer. This was three coats, and it really would need a fourth or a fifth to completely get rid of VNL. (I applied at night, so I didn't realise that it was a bit patchy). Next time I'll layer it over something else - this would look amazing over black, or a dark red...

What's your favourite of the Bond polishes? I'm desperate to get one of the metallics.

My favorite is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". But only polish-wise. While I love the locations of the movie (well, I'm swiss, I'm bound to love it), I think George Lazenby was THE worst Bond actor ever. And as you see, I'm a fan too, and bought the collection (not all of them, "only" 9 out of 12) mostly because of their names...

I just got a new Sally Hansen Salon polish that is pretty much identical to this!

I was on the fence about this, but I'm glad I picked it up. I am strangely drawn to gold polishes in the bottle and usually HATE them once they're on my nails, but I liked this one on me. I think it's the subtle color variations in the tiny gold flakes - they make it more interesting. (I also discovered it looks pretty awesome with Essie Shine of the Times layered on top.)

This is my favourite polish from the 007 collection- so glitzy and gorgeous! And Golden Eye was a fantastic movie- I remember being excited to see it in theatres, not to mention the video game which was awesome. I played so much of it with my older brother- it's cool that your boyfriend worked on it when it was in development!

OMG this is beautiful on you.

I got a friend to snag this for me -- I nearly missed OPI Dazzled by Gold back in the day and I learned my lesson: I AM NEVER MISSING ANOTHER GOLD AGAIN.

P.S. I think Lazenby was worse than Dalton. :)

Aglaya - Haha! Definitely no argument about Lazenby - urgh. Best forgotten. Very jealous of you being Swiss, it's probably my favourite country.

Danielle - I think it may be similar to one of the Orly Xmas colours from last year, but I don't have access to my stash until tomorrow so I'll check then!

Sia - yes, I agree!

Randi - I actually didn't get on with the glitter, I'm not sure why. I like it on other people.

Grace - I'm such a sucker for gold. I have far too many of them. I can't wait to layer this one - I don't have the Essie but I have some other glitters that I think will work.

Natalija - thanks!

Ali - What do you think of it?

TikiBarbie - thanks!

LacquerTracker - I don't know if it's ,y favourite yet, I also got Moonraker, Die Another Day and Tomorrow Never Dies is in the post. I can't wait to try the others. I really liked the movie and I remember going round to my friend's house (I didn't have an N64) to play the multiplayer with her brothers!

Rach - This made me cackle, a girl after my own heart - I thought that too! I don't have DbG so I was hoping this would hit that spot. And I don't think Dalton was THAT BAD, myself.

ilexica - I love The Living Daylights. The glitter is dense though, so I need to play with it a little more and figure out the best way to apply it. :)

Absolutely gorgeous swatch. I actually own this entire collection and Goldeneye sits pretty on my top 5 favorites along with On her Majesty's Secret Service, Live and Let Die and The Living Daylights.

Incidentally, yes Lazenby was by far the worst Bond but in my opinion Dalton was amazing as Bond. He is actually my favorite, followed by Connery and Craig.
