China Glaze Sea Spray and Life Preserver (Anchors Away, Spring 2011)

Life Preserver
I usually am pretty indecisive when it comes to what nail polish to wear next as an NOTD -- it happens when you literally have hundreds of untrieds -- so I sometimes ask my SO to either specify a color or to pick out a nail polish out of the line-up. Here, I handed him the entire Anchors Away collection and asked him to choose. And when he chose Life Preserver, I winced. I really, truly winced. A coral-leaning burnt orange that looks kind of dull in the bottle... usually not a good color for me. At all. Anything with any hint of coral = generally not good for flinty. So I was REALLY surprised that it turned out so nicely that I didn't want to take it off for three days. It's definitely more vibrant outside than in and my skintone does emphasize the coral a bit more... but it actually works! Also, good formula. Above is two coats on Day 2 of wear.

Sea Spray

Everyone's seen this one all over the internet. But I'm showing it again. Because it's just beautiful. It looks like a grey-leaning light blue creme indoors but outdoors, the secret pearly shimmer comes out to play. Also another great polish in terms of application: perfect in two coats. This photo was taken on the fourth day of wear: definitely some chippage and tipwear but intact and still so pretty.

(These polishes were sent to me by China Glaze.)

  2. Life Preserver is actually my favourite amongst them all. Sea Spray isn't far behind. :)

  3. I love Life Preserver. I bought a polish in orange (another brand and color) and I LOVE it. Even though I too have other polishes to wear I secretly wish I had the orange back on.

  4. These look lovely on you. That's good to know about Life Preserver. It's an orange I've been eyeing for a while, but, like you, I feel those colors look horrid on me. May I ask what your skin tone is? I am NC25-30. I think I might get this one after all.

Sea Spray is the only one I got from this collection, and while I love the color, I found the formula to be trying. I have Essie Sag Harbor and OPI I Vant, so I think I might end up swapping the ChG.

  5. I love Sea Spray. I wasn't going to order it but I just may fall. Life Preserver is pretty also but I'm going to let this one pass. They both look gorgeous on you. Your SO choose two good ones.

  6. Ugh, I need Sea Spray!
I'll try to find it at Sally or on their site. There's a sale on ChG anyway.

  7. I think Sea Spray is just beautiful, the subtle shimmer looks just divine and makes to stand out from the rest of the colours similar to this you can get. A must have!
