A sober return

I'm back! I was going to make a celebratory post with a mani I did recently (I don't really have many from vacation, my nails/cuticles take some neglect while I'm not at home, I need to work on that) but I'm changing what I was going to post to this.

My best friend passed away this past weekend. She was hit by a drunk driver. She was only 23.

It's a shock to the system.

I did this mani to honor her... it was a mani she posted on my facebook wall last week, asking me to do it on her nails when she next came over. That day won't ever come, but I'll always think of her.

I'm sorry about the mani quality, it was one that just wouldn't go well for me.

I used American Apparel Hassid and some gold striping tape. It doesn't really hold up that well, even with top coat. I took a shower and it faded to a pale gold. The one on my pinky I reapplied because it repeatedly fell off.

But it looks great.

Please, don't drink and drive.

  9. Oh no, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I wish people would think before they got behind the while after drinking. I wish they didn't get behind the wheel at all.

  16. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. I know that it is not much as far as consoling you goes, but my heart hurts for you. I live in a college town and I have seen people driving who should not be. The other day I saw a kid get arrested in a restaurant lot. I felt bad for him at the time, he seemed like a nice kid. There were four passengers in his car. Now that I read your post I am reminded that it could have ended up so much worse. I am thankful that the police in our town are looking out for us. My prayers are with you.

  37. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I honestly wish people paid more attention in school when they talk about alcohol, especially when it comes to drinking and driving.

I think your best friend would be very touched to know that your wearing the manicure she wanted you to recreate on her nails. Perhaps you could put a bottle of the color you were going to use on her and some of the nail tape in her casket so she could have her nails done in Heaven (if you and her family believe in that)?

  41. I'm so sorry :( My 87 year old grandfather recently lost his license after drinking wine at my nanna's birthday and driving them both home. It's something that really infuriates me because it's so unnecessary, but I know a lot of people from different generations who don't seem to have the same attitude. Maybe hearing about the number of people who lose their lives to senseless idiots would bring them round. :(
