Old NOTD: Illamasqua Rare

Neon yellow for the first day of June. Summer, you are so close!

Illamasqua Rare

Goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway): this is brighter in person. This is seriously the brightest polish I have ever worn: I was almost self-conscious about it. I felt like I should be directing air traffic with these things. Or spelunking and using my nails to light my way. (I kept holding my hands in dark places to see if they were actually glowing. OBVIOUSLY, they weren't... but I felt like they could.) This was one of the biggest PITA polishes I've ever applied that had one of the BEST payoffs. Four coats and a very thick topping of topcoat over the uneven mess that was this polish. But it is without a doubt the best highlighter yellow I've ever tried (I've tried around four). It's fairly pigmented for this type of yellow (even in four coats). As horrible as it was to apply... it's still worth the $14 (minus 15% off) I paid for it. To me anyway. I am so in love with this one. I just want to wave my hands around and direct pedestrians to safety.

I could not WAIT to get rid of it. When I removed it there was neon all over my hands. The single worst polish ever by a number of nautical miles.

It's gorgeous on you! Too bad you had trouble with the application. :( I'm pretty sure I only needed three coats and it wasn't too bad for me. ;) Maybe different batches?

I love this color! I only needed 3 coats and i might have been able to get away with 2. Less matte than other neon polishes, but a top coat brings out it's full glory.
