Essence - Everybody's Talking About : A Math Problem!

Two coats of Essence chic berry pink polish Everybody's Talking About (which I was prepared to find incredibly boring but was shocked that I loved) -

... plus one coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (which I am still so-so about, even though everyone else seems to crave it like I crave Cadbury Eggs) ...

... plus one coat of Essie Matte About You, and VOILA!

What it added up to was a manicure that I absolutely LOVED! The final result was a smoldering fire-like effect that I couldn't take my eyes off of; it really was pretty captivating. I'm telling you, I enjoy these flakie polishes like Hidden Treasure on their own, but slap a matte top coat on them and these babies just shine.

Also, on a side note, this manicure lasted forever, which was a total bonus.

I do have a question, though; what's the big draw of Hidden Treasure? Aren't all of the flaky Nfu Ohs basically the same as this polish but in different hues? Is it just the fact that they were sold as Walgreens and you didn't have to sell a kidney to cover the cost of shipping? Could I ask any more questions?

Okay, one more - what layered looks have you tried that have added up to success?

Happy day, all!

The bottle of the Essence looks so old fashioned, but the polish on you looks totally gorgeous. I will from now on, not judge a polish by it's bottle. The finished manicure is so beautiful. I also really like the matte flake look.

Love this look it's like your nails are on fire!!! I think that flaky polishes like hidden treasure have been around for a while but Sally hansen is available in many places so that's what people look for. I hare paying for shipping so I will avoid it as much as I can!!!

I think you're right-Hidden Treasure's a cheaper, more accessible version of Nfu-Oh flakies, so everyone wants it. At least, that's why I do! [Too bad they're sold out everywhere though :(] I'd love to own an Nfu-Oh anyway though. The bottles are gorgeous!

Lately, I've been really digging the sparkly topcoat over black look, so I've been wearing China Glaze Electric Lilac over black. Another one I really like is Sinful Colors' Pearl Harbor over black.

I'm one of those people who crave for SH's hidden treasure. I just can't help but loving flakies :)

Those Essence polishes are surprisingly nice. And long lasting, too.

I love Hidden Treasure. I usually layer it over dark colours; it is striking over black. I love the effect after being topped with a matte topcoat. I am going to have to try that.

I just like the look of flakies and since Nfu-Oh is not in my budget, right now, Hidden Treasure fills the bill for me.

I don't own any Nfu Oh's so this was readily available. I have almost the same manicure except for the matte part. It was the second day of my manicure and there was Hidden Treasure looking at me from the drawer it was in. Looks so pretty. I really love it more over deep shades. I haven't tried that yet. I believe I will be layering some matte top coat over my nails today. Your manicure is an inspiration.

@Tilly - I know what you mean about the Essence bottle; I originally thought that it must be a cheap, useless polish. Boy was I wrong. Thanks for reading!

@Ping - It really is, but I'm sure I'll wear it all year. Ha!

@Simple Beauty - Me too! Thanks!

@Tasha - I think you're right, and thanks for the compliment! I think the fire look is pretty amazing.

@Strawberrycube - agreed. I wish Sall Hansen would put out some more flakies in other colors; you'd think that they would respond to the fact that Hidden Treasure has been such a craze. As for that China Glaze combo, I'll have to give it a shot!

@Sarah B. - Thanks! I don't know anyone who doesn't love the flakies, the sparkles are just great, aren't they?

@Ice Queen - I understand about the budget restraints, believe me. You'd think Sally Hansen would maybe drop their prices a little too, you know?

@Lucy - Thank you for your lovely comment! Deep colors are really lovely with the flakies over top, I should really try that more myself... and the matte is fabulous, you should try it!

@Spaceinvaders - Thanks, friend!

This looks gorgeous matte! The main reason I wanted Hidden Treasure was because I wouldn't have to order online to get it - I don't have a credit card, and while I could ask my mom to put it on hers, I don't like to pay shipping.

I was just starting to notice flakies when Hidden Treasure came out. I ran across it by accident a day or two later, and snatched a bottle so fast I think the security camera even missed it. I'd love to have some Nfu Ohs, but I have a hard time justifying the price, so unless there is a good sale on them, the Sally Hansen will do.

I'm one of the ones who doesnt get the whole Hidden Treasure hype...but that may be because I've never seen it in stores or on my nails to make me a believer...

this is such creative a mani... it really looks like fire.

ehh flakies.. so hard to find..but not really something I absolutely MUST have.. for me it's a novelty polish...

and I will refuse to pay shipping on things I don't absolutely really love/ cant see myself wearing every single day.

maybe when I finish classes/get back my on feet/get a good paying job/this recession ends.. I will give my money away like that.. lol

Okay, it's beautiful alone, but matte it is AMAZING!

Where I live Nfu-oh polishes are 100 times easier to get than hidden treasure. You just need more of the Nfu-oh polishes to match the colour of your base coat.

Yeah it's cheaper and a lot easier to come by than Nfu. I was going to ignore the whole HT rage but I had a friend in another state that wanted it bad and some time to kill one afternoon. It was a couple months after it's intro so I thought it might be a wild goose chase but once I found the first one (2 actually) at my fourth stop...the hunt was ON. LOL. Like Easter egg hunting for grown ups. I ended up finding several and was able to share them at cost with several other polish junkie friends I've made through the internet that had trouble finding HT (take THAT EvilBay). Now I'm eagerly awaiting the next rarity release just because I got such a kick out of the chase.

Sinful Hottie is my current favorite layering polish. You can find it on my blog.

@Zara - good point, I never thought of that!

@Apriltini - I'm glad you cat life reflexes came in handy! : )

@adorepink - you should definitely try a flakie sometime, no matter what brand it is. The smooth, glittery effect is fab!

@Pretty - Thanks. Don't worry, we all come out the other side of school eventually. : )

@Aurora's Nails - Thanks, chica!

@Lisa - You are on lucky lady - what I wouldn't do for an endless supply of NfuOhs...

@Sandi - Isn't the chase the fun part sometimes? More than once I have gotten more joy out of tracking down a polish than from the polish itself. Ha!

@April - Ooooh, good choice! I love the swatches you have of it. I'll have to put that one on my shopping list!
