Lovely, dark and deep - OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow

A little something green for St. Patrick's Day!

Deepest, darkest dark green - with the most interesting texture! (Just like Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees.)

Flash:

No flash:

Sometimes you just want something dark and vampy that *isn't* burgundy/wine/dark red/plum. And this fits the bill perfectly. Plus I'm a total sucker for the pseudo-jelly-speckly formula. I just love it and I don't even know why!

This reminds me of running around in the woods late at night when I was a kid. I was never scared because I knew the woods so well - every tree, every little hill, every turn. Dark and mysterious, but familiar and comforting all at the same time. It's actually amazing how the colour of this polish evokes these memories to me. I can almost smell the air...clean and fragrant, but laced with the scent of pond water. I miss home so much it hurts sometimes.

Do you have a polish that reminds you of home or a specific childhood memory?

I own this one but have yet to try it. Yes, sometimes you want a deep, dark, but not burgundy shade. This fits the bill.

I was polish shopping when a bottle of very simple, very conservative mauve creme caught my eye. It was the sort of color I always remember my grandmother wearing, and I bought it because it reminded me of her. When I was going to job interviews last summer I wore it to every single one, because it kept me calm and made me think of what sort of encouragement she would have given me before I went if she was still here.
(PS I got a great job.) :)

I'm a little bit in love with your woodland description.

Now I miss home too.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the nail polish, but I had to ask - is your username from the Cake song?

This one is one of my favorite polish EVER ! but I don't know why it's so thick right now...and I haven't used half of it yet.

I love this polish (and it's slate gray sister)! I pulled out Orly Wandering Vine for today, just because I realized I hadn't worn it all winter and with spring practically knocking down our door, I'm sure I'll be in the mood for lighter things pretty soon.

I used to do theater and for one character I had to have bright pink nails, so for 6 weeks that was all I had on my tips. I tried to mix it up with cremes and shimmers, but it always had to be bright pink. Maybe that's why I don't have so many polishes that color anymore, but bright pink polish definitely will always remind me of that :)

This is a beauty. There were woods way behind my house when I lived at home. I didn't wander them at night but during the day. That's why I love greens so much. Especially polishes that look like pine. Also love polishes the color of lavender lilacs.

Your writing is so expressive and descriptive. Especially impressive for a science girl :) Love the nails too.

@For Me, It Works - Exactly. Somehow this feels like a little bit more modern take on a vampie.

@Shieldmaiden96 - Congratulations on the job, and thank you so much for sharing that story. I love hearing about emotional connections to a colour! Sounds like you had a wonderful grandmother!

@Charlotte - Aww!! We can be homesick together.

@Sarah - Yes ma'am it is! :) Short Skirt, Long Jacket

@Honey_lili - My polishes get thick way before half way used. Just add some thinner and you'll be good to go!

@Grace - Wow bright pink nails for 6 weeks!?! I would have been burned out too!!

@Lucy - MMmmm now I smell pine when I look at this. How lovely. And lilacs are so beautiful. I can't wait for everything to start blossoming!

@Katherine - Thank you! I'm not totally a science girl - I was German Lit major in college!

Oh! You've mentioned the lab and research so I just assumed. Oops.

@Katherine - Ha I know right? I also majored in Genetics & Molecular, but I really wasn't planning on going into science initially!
