Cobalt Champion! - Orly Royal Navy

Lately I've been on a search for my ideal cobalt polish! I started with Essie Mesmerize - the colour wasn't quite right. Then, thanks to reader suggestions, I tried Revlon Royal - perfect colour, but the formula really REALLY didn't work for me. Now I'm going to show you something that I think is *just right* - Orly Royal Navy!

I would have never thought to try this, as I know it has some green shimmer to it. Lovely, but not my thing - I really wanted a creme/jelly cobalt! But, fantastic PoP reader Laikabear suggested that I let Orly Royal Navy sit for a while - she said the shimmer would sink to the bottom and I'd get my creme polish. She was right! I left Royal Navy alone for a while et voila - perfection. I really do love the Orly formula too, so this held up very well. Many thanks to Laikabear!

Even though I've found my champion I'm still super tempted to try Nails Inc Baker Street - MANY of you have suggested it to me and I think that next time I'm able to go to Sephora it might just come home with me!

Pretty! I love blue polishes too. My favorite is OPI's Dating A Royal. :)

This is awesome! I love bright cobalts like this. I had Revlon Royal and had to give it to a friend, I just couldn't deal with the formula!

Gorgeous! So vibrant and a little squishy looking. I used to use Orly almost exclusively back when all I wore was french manis, but now I have hardly any Orly in my stash - only 3 that I can think of. Seems like something I should get to work on :)

This is hands down up there in my top 3 fav bright blue shades. The others are in now discontinued China Glaze shades...but worthy mention for you to look at is China Glaze First Mate - still available from the Anchors Away collection but on the classic wall now. It's a deeper blue than this one - but I adore it - perfection formula cream - love it with various flakie toppers and also the CG topper in that came in this collection called White Cap. Fun also to pick up some of the art liners - Stripe Rite - at Sally's and use to tip line First Mate - right now loving it tipped in a hot fuchsia pink.

I bought Bakers Street with this exact purpose in mind, and it was actually a real let down for me. It isn't really cobalt. IDK. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but mine wasn't nearly as good as my Orly Royal Navy.

Oh - how lovely, I am cruising around that one since a while . I so own Baker Street and it most certainly ranges in my top 3 ever polishes. Definitvely worth the higher price.

Hmm I don't know if you can find Italian brand Kiko in the US but if you can they have an awesome cobalt blue in their permanent line!

Royal Navy is definitely one of the best blue polishes, ever. I have never tried applying it after all of the shimmer settled. I am going to give that a go. :)

Royal Navy blue is my uttmost favourite colour and I have 3 you should try:

1. OPI - dating a royal
2. Nails Inc - Baker street(which u already mentioned)
3. China Glaze - Ride the waves (If you like a good jelly!)

It sounds like you're happy with Orly polish, but I highly suggest you try Barry M Nailpaint in Indigo. Its a stunning, creme blue. No sparkles. Perfect. Its a UK brand, but I've found quite a few on Ebay for a less than $7!

Hey, it worked for you too! :)

I still have not tried Baker Street either... tempting... especially since RBL IKB: 2012 didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped...

You should give Essence colour & go in "walk on air" a try. Great blue hue & super formula.
