Midnight Snow - Orly Royal Navy + Hit Polish Candied Jewels

I really really felt like wearing a cobalt blue color -- but the one I had in mind, Nails Inc. Baker Street, I don't own. Actually, I just ordered it the other day with my Sephora $20 off $50 promotion so it'll be arriving soon :) but going through my drawers, I came across Orly Royal Navy and thought it'd fit my fancy.

And it did, for a moment, until I had to slap glitter on top of it.

It ended up looking like snowfall on a dark blue background -- to me, anyway, almost snow globe like :)

This manicure accompanied me through a few finals, it held up really well! Can't quite see the shimmer from Royal Navy but the smaller teal glitters in Hit Polish: Candied Jewels kind of echoed it, which was cool!

I like the glitter mixes from Hit Polish, she doesn't hold back on mixing up different glitters!

Happy Halloween!

I've always enjoyed Halloween polishes but it seems like this year's have fallen flat from the mainstream companies, but indies have made me very happy! I'm still trying to catch up and purchase all of the ones I've been eyeing but it's a slow process :(

My Halloween manicure this year isn't very inspired, this semester has been zooming by and trying to balance school and real life (along with my gaming tendencies hah) has given me less time for manicure originality.

The orange polish is KBShimmer: Orange Pop. It's multicolored glitter in a orange jelly base. I didn't use a base color underneath it but I probably should have, as it took about 5-6 coats to get to the opacity/glitter distribution that I wanted, but even then the polish wasn't "thick" on the nail. The ring finger is American Apparel Hassid with a gradient of Hit Polish: Citrus Salad.

Last year's Halloween manicure is one I already featured, but it's a goodie, so :)

China Glaze: Elephant Walk + Hit Polish: Patina

A lot of times I have trouble picking out my next manicure --  a problem, I'm sure, is because I own too many. Either way, I eventually pick a polish or a polish combo and go with it.

This one is one that occurred to me while staring at polishes laid out on my dresser. I thought it'd go perfectly together and it did, and I loved it while I wore it!

China Glaze Elephant Walk is a smokey darker periwinkle, and paired perfect with Hit Polish Patina, which is a glitter top coat made up of varying sizes of copper glitter along with some light blue and smaller aqua glitters. In the bottle, I thought Elephant Walk would make the lighter blue glitters blend in but it dried darker than evident in the bottle.

Even my roommate, a non-glitter lover, liked this combination :)

Sally Hansen: Big Money with some Hit Polish: Precious Metal

About the same time Piff received her goody bag of SH Nail Strips, I received some polishes from Sally Hansen. I actually already owned most of them, one of them being Big Money from the Gem Crush collection. It's my favorite of the collection because 1) didn't seem to have dupes out there and 2) who doesn't love a nudish glitter???

I loved it on my nails, it was subtle indoors but glittery in the light. It wasn't an out there color, but the purple glitter that was scattered within the polish added a little something that made it a bit more interesting. Two coats gave full coverage. It even caught my roommate's eye (I'm trying to convert her to glitter) and she loved it, too!

After a couple of days of Big Money by itself, I added a indie glitter on top, by Hit Polish named Precious Metal.

Precious Metal is a very densely packed glitter, filled with various sized hex glitters in gold, copper and silver, along with smaller orange glitters. It was super pretty! I loved the application, too. I think I only needed 1 full coat and some dabbing to get as much glitter as shown in the picture. I have a lot of her other polishes so hopefully I'll get around to those soon enough!
